Sunset x Vibes – Season 1 Episode 8 Recap & Review

Episode 8

Sunset X Vibes Episode 8 brings us to Lin’s photoshoot where Sun insists on joining him – to look after the jewelry, of course. Lin wants to be sure no one discovers their relationship. But Sun struggles to contain himself.

Getting ready, Lin asks about the jasmine flower props and when he’s on set has flashbacks from his dream. Madame Amaraporn comments that the whole thing is just as she’d imagined. But when the snapping starts, Lin takes some time to get comfortable. During a break, he drops the flower and envisions someone asking for his help. He falls into the low pool and dreams of landing deep underwater.

On campus, Prim spots her boyfriend and calls him without him seeing her but he can’t meet as he has classes. She cheers herself for having such a sweet boyfriend until she watches him embrace another. He coldly ditches Prim for not sleeping with him after they’ve been dating for a while.

Back at the office, Pim catches Prim crying by herself. She offers to lend an ear and Prim cries on her shoulder. Then when Yo and Sam run into each other, Yo tries to escape without a word. But Sam asks if he can be the Sam that Yo used to like. However, he doesn’t get to respond as Yo takes a call about Lin.

Now at the hospital, Sun explains an unconscious Lin’s incident. A sea monster attacks Sun as he approaches in the dream. In the room, Prim wonders whether the thing was a Naga. Apparently, it’s something Lin’s dreamed of since childhood. Sun notes that Lin described a woman but Prim recalls him mentioning a man previously.

Outside, the team burn incense sticks and pray in hopes of helping Lin, as doctors aren’t sure what’s happening. And Sam offers to handle a meeting that can’t be postponed so Sun can stay with Lin.

In his sleeping state, Lin dreams he’s back on that rock with Sidarin. She clarifies that the place in his dream is the realm of his soul and asks for his help. While in the hospital, Sun wakes at his bedside. The doctor says Lin’s numbers are normal and can’t explain why he’s still unconscious. So, Sun continues to look after Lin while Lin dreams of Sidarin’s cave.

Lin’s father comes to the hospital, angrily questioning Sun and kicking him out to cry at Lin’s his bedside. And Lin dreams of Sidarin’s story of betrayal, killing her own sister and losing her love. Lin sees her trapped in the cave.

Sun goes home and finds jewelry that looks similar to the one in Lin’s dream. He returns to the hospital putting the strand on Lin’s wrist. Crying at his bedside while Lin’s father is out, he begs Lin to return to him.

Still in the dream, Lin discovers that Sidarin’s love is Lord Phraya Suriyen. She’s been repenting for centuries but only Lin can help her because he is her soul reborn. When he finally wakes, he explains that he felt trapped in his dream. Upon noticing the beads on his wrist, Sun affirms that it’s a protective charm of Naga. And Lin believes it’s that of the Naga Suriyen.

When Lin’s father gets the news he rushes to his room, begging him to move back home. But Lin wants to continue his internship and sweet-talks him to get his way, promising to move home afterwards.

In a bar, Sun meets his fiancé who’s keen for a selfie, pulling him close. Meanwhile at the hospital, the interns bring snacks and ask after Sun, hearing he’s gone to a meeting. They wonder if the rumours are true, telling Lin about the fiancé and showing a recent photo that’s been posted.

When Sun returns to the hospital, Lin is already gone with the beads left behind. With his number blocked, Sun races home to find Lin gone from his house too. Elsewhere, a heartbroken Lin sits under a tree.

The Episode Review

Well, Prims ‘poor boyfie’ turns out to be a jackass, so we can nip that question from last week’s Episode 7 review.

While most of the action is focused on Lin’s dream, pulling the strewn pieces together. Lin discovers he has a past-life-induced higher purpose. Perhaps this is the surprise Moss-Bank indicated in their interview? And now Lin’s been tasked to help the Naga, Sidarin, to right her wrongs. So, what’s a Naga you ask? In Thailand, it’s the king of the waters, able to change its appearance as needed, with dragon and serpent among its top choices.

Paired with the dramatic dream, the interns drop the bomb they’d heard last ep – that Sun has a fiancé. With that bit of news, Lin is completely and utterly out. But will he fulfil his dream at the internship? We’ll have to wait and see…. Finally this drama gains some urgency and the real storyline takes off.

Who thinks Lin has made the right decision in promptly exiting without a conversation? Is that what you’d do? Looking forward to hearing your thoughts.
