Star Wars: Young Jedi Adventures
A long time ago, in a decade that is now far far away, director George Lucas gave the world Star Wars. Little did he know at the time that his sci-fi epic would become a massive franchise starter that incorporated multiple movies, video games, and TV spinoffs.
Star Wars: Young Jedi Adventures will be the next TV series that takes place within the universe that Lucas created. Will the Force be strong with this one? This is something only Yoda can predict but if you would like to know more about this upcoming show, we have all the information you need below.
What is Star Wars: Young Jedi Adventures about?
Star Wars: Young Jedi Adventures is an animated series that is primarily aimed at younger fans of the long-running franchise.
The series follows a group of younglings as they learn the ways of the Force, including patience, compassion, and self-discipline by Master Jedi Yoda. It is set during the High Republic era which places it around 50 years or so before the events of Star Wars Episode 1: The Phantom Menace. As such, parents won’t have to worry about an older Anakin turning up and laying waste to the young Jedi-in-training!
This is the official synopsis:
“Set during The High Republic era, the animated series follows Jedi younglings as they study the ways of the Force, explore the galaxy, help citizens and creatures in need, and learn valuable skills needed to become Jedi along the way.”
A new cast of characters will appear in the show, including Kai Brightstar, a Jedi youngling who wants to follow in the footsteps of Yoda, and RJ-83, a droid who becomes a friend of the younglings.
Other than Yoda, we don’t know if other legendary franchise characters will appear. It’s unlikely, considering the timeline in which it takes place, but we will know more as the show progresses.
You can get a preview of the show on Disney Junior’s YouTube channel as several animated shorts introducing the series’ characters have been released. These shorts will also be released on Disney+ on April 26 ahead of the show’s launch. One of these shorts is also included at the end of this article.
When will Star Wars: Young Jedi Adventures be released?
Star Wars: Young Jedi Adventures will make its debut on the streaming service Disney+ and the television network Disney Junior on Star Wars Day! In other words, the show will be released on May 4th 2023.
Expect the show to land on Disney+ at 12am (PT)/3am (ET) in the US and 8am (GMT) in the UK.
We don’t yet have any information on how many episodes the show will consist of but it’s fair to assume it will probably be commissioned for about 10 or so.
