The show was released at the height of the Covid-19 pandemic as most of the world was locked at home. The show received immense global popularity soon after its release and can be considered one of the most popular Korean shows on the platform.

Back in January 2022, it was announced that Squid Game, the global phenomenon written and directed by Hwang Dong-hyuk, would be returning for a second season. If you’ve been following this violent crime thriller, you may be curious to find out when Season 2 of this K-drama will be released.

What is Squid Game about?

The show follows the life of Seong Gi-hun, a divorced father and indebted gambler who lives with his elderly mother. One day, he is invited to play a series of children’s games for a chance at a large cash prize.

Gi-hun accepts the offer and is taken to an unknown location where he finds himself among 455 other players who are all in deep financial trouble.

Where Can I Watch Squid Game Season 2?

Since Squid Game is a Netflix original, the K-drama will be released exclusively on the streaming platform globally with a relevant subscription. This is the only place you’ll be able to watch this one. Expect the show to be released with subtitles and dubs in multiple languages. 

Squid Game Season 2 Release Date

Squid Game Season 2 will be released globally on Thursday, 26th December at 4:00 pm KST / 2:00 am ET / 11:00 pm PT / 7:00 am GMT. Expect all episodes of the show to be released at the same time, in line with Netflix’s release order for Original TV Shows.

Each episode of Squid Game will have a run-time of around 48-50 minutes by approximate. Also, expect episodes to drop with relevant English subtitles as well as dubs in multiple languages.

How Many Episodes Will Squid Game Season 2 Have?

If the upcoming season of the Korean drama is going to follow a similar pattern to its last, Squid Game Season 2 will have approximately 9 episodes. While it is likely that the number of episodes will change, we will be sure to update this section when more information about the release of the show is made available.

Also expect the episodes to be dropped with relevant subtitles as well as dubs in multiple languages including English, Hindi, Japanese, Brazilian and many more.

Squid Game Season 2 Cast

Actor Lee Jung-jae will be returning for the second season of Squid Game, reprising his role as Seong Gi-hun – the winner of the game. Lee Byung-hun is also set to return to the show for its upcoming season as Front Man after his identity was exposed at the end of Season 1.

Netflix made the revelation that Wi Ha-joon will also be returning for the new season, reprising his role as Hwang Jun-ho, which has many fans hoping that he’s still alive after what happened in Season 1.

In the video, Netflix also introduced the new players who are going to take part in the upcoming season. Actors Yim Si-wan, Kang Ha-neul, Park Sung-hoon, and Yang Dong-eun will be the new players in Season 2. Meanwhile, Gong Yoo will also be returning as The Recruiter.

Aside from these, there is not much information about other characters from Season 1 returning for the upcoming sequel.
