Bond gets another vision of the future and tries changing it. Meanwhile, the people working for this industry Loid’s infiltrating arrive in the area Loid and Bond were in. Bond helps Loid secure the serum, allowing Loid to go home early, thus helping Bond avoid Yor’s terrible cooking. Loid promises Bond they’ll be heading to the supermarket, thus ending this portion of episode 2.

The next set piece titled “Dimain’s Field Research Trip” begins with Damian and his friends waking up. Damian wakes up late for roll call, resulting in Henderson punishing him. He must assist the Dorm Mother and not leave his room for the remainder of the day. Damian commits to chores while his friends realize he woke up late because he’s been focusing heavily on studying to earn more Stella Stars. Damian refuses to attend events with his friends too.

Damian overhears the boys asking one of the adults to take them to the movies. He looks down upon those boys because of their childish desires. He wants to work hard to receive proper praise from his father, Donovan Desmond. Damian’s friends break a few rules in front of Henderson. They’re punished with the same routine as Damian and thank Henderson for it. Damian tells his friends to go to the movies and scolds them for getting into trouble for his sake.

His friends start goofing around, causing Damian to lose focus on tagging along with them. While Dorm Mother yells at them for slacking off, Henderson observes them from afar and finds Damian’s friends’ decisions elegant as it shows how much they adore Damian as a friend. Henderson steps in and gives the boys a new punishment. He wants them to embark on a field research trip with Mr. Green. During a boat ride down a stream, Damian falls into it, resulting in his friends trying to save him.

Green tells them they shouldn’t worry because the water’s not deep. The boys get some firewood and help Green start a campfire in the forest. Green and the boys participate in some fun activities afterward from fishing to cooking. While roasting fish at night, Damian wonders why he’s fooling around with these guys and wishes he could be studying. Mr. Green notices Damian’s qualms and tells Damian why it’s good to space out and be less focused on working hard.

Mr. Green leads the boys somewhere and they discuss Damian’s goal of becoming a politician like his father when he gets older. The boys reach their destination and take in the beautiful scenery of Stella Lake. The boys laugh while Mr. Green informs them they’ll be writing a report on their trip today. Green brings Henderson the boys’ report to him.

The episode closes with Damian getting a cold.

The Episode Review

It appears Spy X Family Season 2’s goal is to reintroduce its cast to the fans. While the set pieces presented here were enjoyable, the second one in particular touching upon a nice theme, they don’t add much to the overarching plot. That said, they contain enough favorable wholesome content to get viewers back into the world.

The first set piece focuses solely on Bond, showcasing his future-sight abilities. It was touching seeing him help Loid get a serum because he wanted to avoid Yor’s heinous cooking. Hopefully, this episode alludes to Bond having a nice role to play when we get into this season’s dramatic and important story content. As for the Damian set piece, this had a bit more weight to it.

Based on how matters left off in season one, it makes sense for Damian to be working harder toward his goals. At the same time, this set piece leaves viewers with an important message about finding time for yourself and not taking life too seriously. From Damian and his friends playing in the forest with Mr. Green to Henderson observing their progress, this set piece provides audiences with a comfy time.

Overall, this was a fine chapter. It doesn’t add much to the overarching story but it delivers some compelling scenes and nice life lessons to avoid being stale. Hopefully, the next chapter will advance our plot though.
