‘Marvel’s Spider-Man 2’ Release Date, Platforms & Game Length

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2?

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 will be swinging its way onto the PS5 very soon so if you’re a fan of the friendly neighbourhood web-crawler, now is the time to get excited.

The new game will pit Peter Parker and Miles Morales against Kraven the Hunter, the Lizard, and Venom (and possibly more villains besides), in an adventure across the streets and skylines of a vastly expanded New York (double the size of the map in the first game).

  • Switch between Peter Parker and Miles Morales while free-roaming
  • More opportunities for exploration with two new play areas: Brooklyn and Queens
  • Take advantage of the new web wings feature for better traversal across the city
  • Over 65 suits available, including the symbiote suit
  • New suit abilities, including bio-electricity
  • Ray-tracing and VRR support
  • Improved Dualsense functionality

What platforms is Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 releasing on?

Spider-Man 2 will launch exclusively for the PS5 on 20th October, 2023. We expect the game will web-sling its way onto the PC at some point in the future but the developers at Insomniac have yet to reveal when this might happen.

Is Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 single-player or multiplayer?

Despite the option to play as either Peter or Miles, players will be controlling these characters alone. As such, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is single-player only so you shouldn’t expect any multiplayer modes within this upcoming title.

Will Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 have achievements?

Yes, the game will have 46 achievements that are worth 1000 gamerscore. For information on these, swing over to TrueAchievements for a full list.

Will Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 have any DLC?

No DLC has been announced post-launch but those who preorder the game will get the following:

  • Arachknight Suit for Peter early unlock (includes three colour variants)
  • Shadow-Spider Suit for Miles early unlock (includes three colour variants)
  • Web Grabber gadget early unlock
  • +3 skill points.

How long is Marvel’s Spider-Man 2?

The previous Spider-Man game took around 17 hours to complete for a straight play-through of the main mission and around 35 hours for 100% completion.

As Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 features a larger map, we expect the game will take longer to complete if more side quests and collectables become available as a consequence. That being said, you shouldn’t expect the game’s length to be too much longer than the original game, as senior game director Ryan Smith revealed to VG247. He said:

“Spider-Man 2 is in the same ball-park as the first game in terms of overall playtime…And we really thought about how to make each of the moments – moments like The Lizard fight you played – a little more epic, or a little deeper, or a little more story-integrated. We don’t want this to be an 80-100-hour game, that’s not where we want to be. We want to tell amazing stories, the best we can. We want to make every mission really, really memorable. That’s our goal, rather than going super, super broad.”
