Sonic Prime -Season 3 Episode 3 “No Escape” Recap & Review

No Escape

Episode 3 of Sonic Prime kicks off with Nine feeling the sting of defeat that he has tasted in the previous episode. Time is ticking for him as the prism weakens without Sonic’s energy. Nine knows that he cannot get to Sonic as long as he’s in the safety dome.

Nine requires Sonic to leave the dome, and for that, he starts to harm the people of New Yoke. The Chaos Council has kept its promise and has moved all the citizens to safety, but Sonic notices that only the black boons are inside the safety dome, not horses, shells, and other animals.

Despite everyone’s pleading him not to do it, Sonic leaves the safety dome to save the animals. However, Sonic is in no way alone; Amy and others offer to help him save New Yoke. Sonic and the team exit the dome and engage in a fierce battle against the Birdies. Sonic grabs as many shells as possible and returns to the safety dome, laying waste to Nine’s plan.  But Nine is nowhere near giving up.

Things turn interesting when Sonic voluntarily decides to surrender himself to Nine, leaving everyone stunned. But like always, the blue speedster has a plan—he believes he can negotiate with Nine. Sonic wants to strike a deal where he agrees to let Nine use his energy, and in return, Nine will repair all the damage he caused and leave the citizens of New Yoke alone. However, Nine suspects that this might be one of Sonic’s sneaky plans.

As Sonic and Nine discuss the terms, the latter starts to get Sonic’s point of view. Eventually, Nine agrees to Sonic’s terms, promising not to cause trouble in New Yoke if he can use Sonic’s energy. Nine admits that he’s mostly worried about himself and won’t bother anyone in New Yoke as long as he stays safe.

Both Sonic and Nine seem okay with the deal. As the episode nears its end, Sonic’s shoes start glowing, and something or someone pulls him out of the grim. Nine thinks it to be one of Sonic’s tricks, but the latter genuinely has no idea what’s going on.

The Episode Review

Episode 3 reveals more about how Sonic and Nine feel towards each other. There’s obviously an emotional connection, even though Nine has betrayed Sonic. In addition, there are times when characters seem to rush through their personal growth, maybe to move the story forward.

Still, the episode keeps you hooked, making you curious about what happens next. The excitement of not knowing what’s coming next is what makes you want to stream another episode.
