Somewhere Boy- Season 1 Episode 7 Recap & Review

Episode 7

Episode 7 of Somewhere Boy begins in the present timeline with Sue driving Danny across town to a hostel. During the drive, Sue asserts that despite her love for Steve, he was cruel to Danny. At the hostel, Sue bids Danny farewell while crying.

In the past timeline, it was Danny’s 18th birthday. Danny, however, exhibits an unusual lack of energy. Finally, he admits that he wishes they had more than they did. Although deeply upset, Steve understands that it is time for him to let Danny go.

In the present timeline, Danny strolls aimlessly on a beach. A young boy named Ash gives Danny a breather by inviting him to attend a party. Danny accepts the invitation because he has nothing better to do.

As they grow closer, Danny discovers that men are capable of having sex with one another. Danny performs a soulful cover of “Button Up Your Overcoat” while singing karaoke. He appears to be a completely different person.

Sue requests that Aaron pick up her car from the Farm. On his arrival, Daisy asks Aaron. Thereafter, she gets upset with Aaron once he admits that he sent Danny away.

Danny follows Ash to his scheduled date when he walks away from the celebration. Once Ash notices Danny outside, he decides to end the date and they return to his flat.

After having sex, Ash is about to head back home because he has work the following day. When he prepares to leave, Danny gets so emotional and agitated that he almost threatens Ash. Ash is terrified by Danny’s actions even though he lets him go.

The Episode Review

Danny’s abandonment issues are explored in this episode. Danny really enjoys his time with Ash. When Ash is about to leave, he assumes that Ash is upset with him because his father used to abandon him when he was upset with him. Furthermore, when Ash is about to leave, he becomes very emotional. At this point, the scars from his traumas are evident.

Aaron’s rage appears to be subsiding at this point. Daisy also gives him a reality check by showing him the mirror. With the season finale only one episode away, it’ll be interesting to see if Aaron asks Danny to stay with them again.
