With The Moon……
Episode 11 of Shy Season 2 begins with Mai (formally Utsuro) and Ai damaging Amarariruku’s bear weapon. Doki yells at Mai for abandoning her initial beliefs. He tries to persuade Mai to join his side. Mai refuses to rejoin his and the others’ side. The bear interrupts Doki’s conversation with Mai.
Kufufu wants to end things. Pepesha and Teru try to stop Kufufu. Kufufu refuses to yield and tosses a torch inside the bear’s mouth. The bear has a bunch of bombs stored inside its mouth. The bear explodes. Our heroes escape with some of them sustaining wounds. Doki yells at Kufufu for blowing up the bear.
Kufufu tells Doki the bear opened up the black sphere’s hole more. The dark energy within the sphere leaks out. Shrimpy and Century are standing on top of the black sphere. Century tries to stop the dark energy from leaking. Mai observes the scene and wonders if she made the right choice.
Ai grabs her hand and encourages her not to give up. Mai notices Century’s holding back the dark energy and leaps toward it. After accepting her past sins, Mai performs her Moon Providence technique. Doki tells the others that Mai plans to swallow up all the city’s dark energy.
Purity tells Teru what Mai plans to do. He argues Mai doesn’t have enough strength to stop the dark energy. Purity asks Teru to take him to Mai and to help her out. Teru heads toward Ai and Tokimaru. She wants Ai and Tokimaru to help her and Mai out. Teru doesn’t want Mai to sacrifice herself.
Tokimaru understands and uses a technique to grant himself wings. Then, we enter a flashback. In it, Mai reflects on how much she admires the moon and discusses what it represents to her. In the present, Mai is willing to sacrifice it all. Tokimaru, Teru, and Ai arrive to assist Mai.
Meanwhile, Doki tells Kufufu to think of something. Kufufu doesn’t know what to do. Mianlong, Piltz, and Pepesha arrive. The former tells Doki he and the others don’t want them getting in Teru and the others’ way. At the same time, Ai, Tokimaru, and Mai help Teru summon a strong flame.
This flame destroys the barrier and the dark energy. The dark energy that was harming everyone in the city disappeared too. Teru faints but Mai and Ai prevent Teru from falling. The episode ends with Ai, Mai, and Tokimaru looking at the sun.
The Episode Review
Teru and the others successfully foiled Amarariruku’s plans with the power of friendship and fire. Many fans will be satisfied with this outcome since no one perished this time around. Seeing Tzveta go in the previous season took a toll on folks.
Having Teru ask Ai and Tokimaru for assistance was a great move. It allows the storytelling to avoid repetitive resolutions. However, with one episode to go, things can go south quickly for our gang. So it’d be in fans’ best interest to take our heroes’ safety cautiously. Besides that, some may have problems with the Pepesha and Kufufu situation.
Kufufu’s character hasn’t changed much despite Pepesha and her having that moment together. It’ll make many people reflect on those past scenes with them, questioning if they were worth dedicating time to. Yet, there’s a good chance Pepesha’s words reached Kufufu and we won’t see those words affect Kufufu until later.
Regardless, this was worth highlighting since some may question why Kufufu evokes the same aura as before. The visuals weren’t all that great either. There were some scenes where the character designs looked unpolished. Besides those problems, many fans will enjoy this episode of Shy Season 2.
