Episode 7 Recap
Episode 7 of Serendipity’s Embrace (i.e. Is It Fate) picks up with Jun-ho almost fainting as Hong-ju grabs him and tries to check up on him.
Jun-ho tells Hong-ju that he is sick and explains that the reason for their break up is his illness. He tries to tell her how he could not write due to his anxiety and states that he did not want to be vulnerable with her in the past.
Hong-ju thanks Jun-ho for telling the truth to her.
She states that she spent all those years thinking the reason for their break up was something that she had done.
Hong-ju tells Jun-ho that she will now be able to move on as she will not be blaming herself for their failed relationship.
Meanwhile, Do-seon tells Hu-yeong that she too is going to stay in South Korea. She challenges Hu-yeong should return to the USA with her but Hu-yeong is adamant.
He tells Do-seon that he will not be going back this time. CEO Baek is appalled by Hu-yeong’s reaction.
At the same time, Hong-ju goes to her workplace and tells CEO Bae that she is not going to work on the project with Jun-ho due to personal reasons.
CEO Bae tries to make sure Hong-ju is okay and agrees to let her sign out of the project.
Hong-ju is moping by a convenience store and chases a few high schoolers away in frustration. When Hu-yeong shows up, Hong-ju runs to hug him.
The two spend some time at the arcade playing games and singing Karaoke songs to ease their minds. Hong-ju is shocked that she finds Hu-yeong’s voice sexy.
That night, the two walk back home and Hu-yeong tells Hong-ju that he quit his job. Hong-ju is upset but Hu-yeong asks her to trust him and she does.
At home, Hong-ju talks to Hye-ji who tells him how she had been rejected by Mr Sohn. Hong-ju deleted all the files on her laptop which were related to Jun-ho and his books.
Hye-ji tells her friend that she is in the park, trying to get over Mr Sohn. Hye-ji is pissed at herself for investing in trekking shoes, hoping to impress Mr Sohn.
After ending the call, Hong-ju packs all the novels written by Jun-ho from her room and leaves them out by the trashcan outside her house.
The next morning, Hu-yeong is going out for a jog when he spots Hong-ju’s favourite novels by the trashcan from when they were in high school.
A few hours later, Hong-ju leaves to go to work and finds that the novels are no longer in the trash can.
Just then, Hu-yeong returns from his jog and offers to walk Hong-ju to the bus stop. However, his mother exits a cab.
Hong-ju introduces herself to Do-seon but the latter asks Hong-ju to give her some privacy with her son.
Hu-yeong tries to protest but fails. Inside the house, Do-seon grills CEO Baek for renovating her property and living there without her consent. She states that she is going to live in the house with them which frustrates CEO Baek. He texts Hong-ju and asks her to be wary of Do-seon now that she is living in the house.
At work, CEO Bae notices Hong-ju’s mood and tries to distract her with work. That night, Hong-ju tries to go home carefully and tries to avoid getting noticed by Hu-yeong’s mother.
Hu-yeong meets Hong-ju outside her house and the two have a romantic conversation.
The next day, Hu-yeong goes to Sang-pil’s restaurant for a meal but gets stuck working there as a waiter. He is messy and keeps breaking multiple bowls but helps Sang-pil with the cash register due to his math prowess.
On the other hand, CEO Baek gets upset at his sister for trying to control his employees at Rock Asset. He tells her that she is doing so because Hu-yeong is no longer listening to her.
That afternoon, Hong-ju goes to the ttekbokki place she visited with Hu-yeong when they were younger. She texts Hu-yeong about her interaction with the shop owner.
Sang-pil realises that he was stuck babysitting Hu-yeong until 6 pm when Hong-ju gets home from work. That night, CEO Baek tries to talk to Bae and the two end up arguing. At the same time, Jun-ho shows up outside Hong-ju’s house and makes paper planes of the love letters she had written to him.
Hong-ju tries to get him to leave but Jun-ho throws another paper plane which lands on Do-seon who is just returning home.
She reads the letter just as Jun-ho asks Hong-ju if Hu-yeong is a good guy. Hong-ju asks Jun-ho to come to terms with their break-up. She goes out to collect the love letters Jun-ho has thrown and runs into Do-seon.
Hu-yeong gets worried when Hong-ju does not show up at Sang-pil’s restaurant and goes outside to call her. Inside, Hye-ji and Sang-pil talk about Hong-ju being forced to work with Jun-ho.
Hu-yeong hears this and is upset. He leaves to go home. Meanwhile, Do-seon invites Hong-ju for tea and tells her that she is going to take her son back to the USA with her.
Hong-ju is shocked when Do-seon blames her for forcing him to stay in the USA. Hong-ju explains how she fell for Hu-yeong because of the way she cared for her.
Do-seon implies that Hu-yeong had the same effect on many girls which upsets Hong-ju.
Hu-yeong goes back home and finds an old love letter that Hong-ju had sent to Jun-ho. He pockets it and goes to meet Hong-ju who is upset with him about his dating life from when he was in the States.
Hu-yeong and Hong-ju end up fighting when she tells him she cannot trust him. Hong-ju claims that she was worried he was going to leave her.
The next morning, Hu-yeong wakes up on the couch. Do-seon sees that Hu-yeong had gotten drunk the night before and is concerned for him.
She goes to her high school to meet Hye-ji and is taken back to the day she bunked school with Hu-yeong.
Hong-ju realises how she acted out and tells Hye-ji how she had tried to push Hu-yeong away.
Sang-pil, on the other hand, shows up to meet Hu-yeong. He cooks Hu-yeong a meal while Hye-ji takes Hong-ju to a restaurant to have lunch.
Hong-ju tells Hye-ji that she is worried Hu-yeong will go back to the USA with his mom.
Sang-pil has a drink with Hu-yeong and shares his memories with Hong-ju and Hye-ji from when they were younger.
Sang-pil adds how sad Hong-ju got every time it was time for someone to leave and how saying goodbye was important for her.
Meanwhile, Hye-ji goes back to school after lunch and is on her way to class.
Mr Sohn notices that Hye-ji is going to be hit by the football and jumps in front of her to save her. He gets hit in the face with the ball and suffers a nosebleed.
Hye-ji gets concerned and checks up on him. Mr Sohn finally confesses his feelings for her and the two kiss in the medical room.
That night, Do-seon comes home from work and finds a drunk Sang-pil in the house. She goes to meet Hong-ju to see where Hu-yeong has disappeared and finds her son waiting outside her house.

That evening, Hong-ju is running back home from work when she runs into Hu-yeong who saves her from getting hit by a speeding bike.
The episode ends with a flashback of Hong-ju and Hye-j going to the tteokkboki place as kids. Sang-pil shows up there and brings up Hu-yeong which causes Hong-ju to cry because of how much she missed him.
Now that we are done with the recap of Episode 7 of Serendipity’s Embrace, let’s head on to the review.
The Episode Review
With only one episode left in this show, I am surely going to miss Serendipity’s Embrace every Monday and Tuesday. While this is a rather short drama, it is upsetting that the makers are rushing to conclude it when the characters have just started to open up.
From what we can see in this episode, Mr Sohn and Hye-ji are now dating which means there is going to be trouble at home with Mr Kim trying to set her older daughter up with Mr Sohn.
I wonder if we will see a shocking cameo as Hye-ji’s older sister. The flashbacks really make the drama interesting but we can see that Hong-ju too had feelings for Hu-yeong when they were younger.
Do-seon could possibly come to see just how much Hu-yeong loves Hong-ju and I hope the couple has a happy ending!
