Awaken
Chapter 176 of Sakamoto Days begins in the present timeline—Akira, Akao’s niece, comforts Akao. Remember, Akao is in control of Slur’s body. Akao confirms Sei set her and Slur up in the past, resulting in Akao’s death. Despite Akao’s death, Akao wants Akira to dissociate herself from the assassin world and live a life she and Slur couldn’t have.
Akira refuses and Akao’s disappointed. Meanwhile, Shin, Lu, and Heisuke discuss Sakamoto’s National Store Chain plan. Then, Wutang interrupts their conversation. Wutang believes they’ll need to defeat the Order if they hope to move forward with the National Store Chain plan. He questions if they can pull that off.
Shin understands and argues they don’t stand a chance against the Order. Shin confronts Sakamoto and asks if he can help him, Heisuke, and Lu “intensively train.” Sakamoto understands but argues he can’t teach them properly, due to their different fighting styles. He argues he needs to train too. Sakamoto wishes he had a master he could count on to help everyone out.
Then, we cut away to some JAA personnel monitoring an ill patient. These gentlemen are monitoring this patient because he has close ties to Nagumo. Suddenly, Nagumo pops up and murders the men. After that, Nagumo reflects on Akao’s death and confirms the patient in the bed is Kindaka. Suddenly, Kindaka grabs Nagumo’s arm, signaling to Nagumo that Kindaka’s alive.
The chapter ends with Kindaka asking Nagumo to update him on everything.
The Chapter Review
Laughably, Sakamoto and his friends were deadset on ignoring Slur’s dilemma at the JAA’s sixth base as many had predicted. Fortunately, Wutang convinced our heroes to focus more on the enemies who were after Sakamoto instead. Although Sakamoto, Shin, and the others are admirable fighters, it’s interesting to see them agree that they’re no match for the Order.
While a few of them have experience with Osaragi, Shishiba, and others, the Order has a few new members that shouldn’t be underestimated. Those members are Torres and Tanabata. Hopefully, our heroes can find a master who can train them for their next encounter with the Order. Fortunately, this chapter may have hinted at the master who can train them.
Kindaka was an admirable member of the Order, who many assumed was dead. Although the man is still bedridden, there’s a chance he can recover and fulfill this role. That’d be neat, considering what we know of Kindaka’s character. Next to receiving some interesting moments between Akira and Akao, this was an enjoyable chapter of Sakamoto Days.
Hopefully, the next chapter will inform us about the Order’s current activities since it’s been a while since we have seen them.
