Chapter 166 of Sakamoto Days starts with Slur telling Gaku to cease battling Takamura. Suddenly, Haruma arrives and assists Gaku in battling Takamura. Haruma and Gaku refuse to comply. The former argues if they want to destroy the JAA, they must defeat Takamura. Then, we enter a flashback involving Slur and Haruma. 

The two share their take on the assassin lifestyle. In the present, Slur shares a plan with Gaku and Haruma that’ll let them abuse Takamura’s weakness. The three move forward with Slur’s immobilization plan. This plan succeeds because Takamura doesn’t sense his enemy’s attack. Although the three bind Takamura to an elevator, Takamura speaks, much to the three’s shock. 

Takamura questions if Slur, Haruma, and Gaku think he’s senile. Then, Takamura slices his hand off and reattaches his hand seconds later, baffling Gaku. Takamura rambles on how he hates that this world’s filled with scumbags like Gaku, Slur, and Haruma. The chapter closes with Takamura possibly ending Haruma’s life. 

The Chapter Review

Against the odds, Takamura shows why respecting the elderly is the right thing to do. From his unexpected arm reattachment stunt to his tense remarks, Takamura’s on a slaughter hunt and it doesn’t look great for Slur and the others. Nevertheless, seeing Slur create a swift battle plan on the fly was nice, and the brief backstory involving him and Haruma will give readers something to contemplate regarding his views of his career path. 

At the same time, it’s a bummer to see Haruma fall this early. Many may have wanted to witness him and Shin have a rematch in the distant future and this chapter pretty much buries that idea for good. Simultaneously, many may wonder what Shin, Osaragi, and the others are doing at this time. It’s likely they’ll either arrive at this battle or will focus on their respective fight’s current developments. 

Regardless, we’re hoping the next chapter addresses what those characters have been up to since the JAA Chairman announced Nagumo, Slur, and Sakamoto’s bounties. All in all, this was another off-the-walls chapter of Sakamoto Days.
