Zombieverse is the latest reality series right out of Korea, answering the age old question – what would you do in the event of a zombie apocalypse? Across the two seasons, our characters aim to do just that!

If you’ve finished watching this one, you may be wondering if this has been renewed or cancelled. Here’s what we know so far:

What is Zombieverse about?

Zombieverse’s premise is something that many people have likely discussed while drinking or watching their favourite zombie flick with their friends – how would you survive if a zombie apocalypse consumed the world? For anyone who has read Max Brooks’ two books, World War Z and The Zombie Survival Guide, then you may be a little more clued up on answering that than others! When it comes to this Korean series, Zombieverse assumes that our characters know absolutely nothing and are plunged right in the heart of the drama.

The setting starts on the sunny tranquillity of Jeju Island before returning to the mainland and proceeding through a variety of different dangerous areas. There’s a lot of variation to the settings this time around, and what begins on a sunny resort, moves through a beach clubhouse complete with a DJ and swimming pool, a subway station and a fast-moving train, to name a few. The show has definitely gone all-out here to try and make itself as aesthetically diverse as possible, but it also doubles down on the humour too, to mixed results.

Has Zombieverse been renewed for season 3?

At the time of writing, Netflix have not renewed Zombieverse for a third season. Given the nature of this series, that could change if it does good numbers for the streamers.

Generally Netflix, like other streaming platforms, gauge numerous metrics before renewing a show, including how many people initially watch it and then looking at the drop-off rate. With some shows, cancellations or renewals happen quickly (ala. Squid Game, Bridgerton etc.) Other times, it can take months before Netflix make a decision over a show’s future.

So far, Zombieverse has had a very mixed reaction from audiences and critics alike, with the series easy to watch but tonally conflicted with its blend of horror and comedy.

The story is pretty much done so a new cast would be needed, although the ending definitely leaves things wide open for more. The show is relatively cheap to make and with any reality show, it’ll come down to the viewing numbers, which Netflix itself have touted as being a success.

With all that in mind, we predict that Netflix will renew Zombieverse for a third season. Now, that could change but this seems more like a one and done affair.

What we know about season 3 so far:

Not much is known about season 3 at the time of writing, given Netflix have not officially renewed this one yet. Should the streamers decide to greenlight this one, it’s fair to assume that we’ll a similar set of quests, lots more laughs and plenty of bonkers ideas coming to the foreground too.

It’s likely that Netflix will make an official announcement several months from now, once the final viewing figures are in, but for now we’ll have to wait and see. We’ll be sure to update this section with more information as it becomes available.
