Renewed Or Cancelled?
Yumi’s Cells is a cleverly written and quirky romcom, taking cues from Inside Out to portray internal “Cell Lands” to portray different emotions.
Generally each episode can be found on Viki shortly after broadcast, with the hard-working subtitle team translating relatively quickly (usually within 24 hours)
This 14 episode drama has been consistently decent, releasing with the usual two episodes a week every Saturday and Sunday.
What is Yumi’s Cells Season 1 about?
Yumi’s Cells centers on the quirky and ever-lovable Yu-Mi, who finds herself as an ordinary single working woman. She’s not great at expressing her feelings but soon meets Koo Woong, who changes everything. Together, the pair start to grow closer together but there’s a twist.
Each person has an internal Cell Land which deal with different emotions like love, rationality and even fashion. Most of the episodes revolve around their will they/won’t they romance whilst depicting humorous Cell Land misadventures.

Has Yumi’s Cells been renewed for season 2?
At the time of writing, tvN has renewed Yumi’s Cells for season 2! Filming is currently underway now with the aim of a potential early 2022 release date. Given the modest ratings over the weeks, and the condensed 14 episode run-time, this has certainly come as a nice surprise.
The ratings began with 2.0% nationwide and has been pretty steady, increasing to highs of 2.545% during episode 4. Based on this, and the fact most k-dramas wrap up their stories in a single season, this has been a quirky and well-written endeavour.
What we know about season 2 so far:
Most Korean dramas are reserved to one season and with the rare exception of ongoing Netflix shows (Love ft. Marriage and Divorce, Hospital Playlist etc.) then it’s a surprise to see this one given the greenlight. However, filming is underway and the blend of animation and live-action has captivated fans worldwide.
Kim Go-eun has been reported to say: “The new way that drama and animation are progressing at the same time and the charm of everyday life will quickly approach viewers.”
Expect a release date some time in 2022, with it looking most likely to be around April-May time.
There’s certainly scope for the story to expand, including extra Cells in Cell Land and a potential love triangle, along with new characters and lots of subplots.
This drama is still ongoing but we’ll be sure to update with links to our finale recap and full season review in the coming weeks!
We generally aim to update this page when more information becomes available.

I’m so excited about this next season. I absolutely brilliqnt writing and really hit reality of what relationship can be. Very relatable and funny. Very refreshing series
I am anxious for season 2. It was refreshing to see a healthy relationship bloom from beginning and sad to see it end due to their pride. I loved that there wasn’t any crazy drama that led to violence or screaming at each other. They handled their relationship in an adult way and showed respect for each ithers feelings. Yumi didn’t jump from one relationship to another but took time to completely end the first and heal emotionally. It is sad that Wung was never honest about his old feelings for his coworker meanwhile Yumi was completely honest with him about her prior relationship. I really can’t wait to see season 2. Thank you for continuing the story.
