With good acting and some solid comedic beats, Today’s Webtoon is a quirky but simple K-drama offering. It’s certainly not going to blow anyone away, but it’s good for what it is.

If you’ve been following this one, you may be wondering if this show has been renewed or cancelled. Well, wonder no more! Here’s what we know about a renewal:

What is Today’s Webtoon Season 1 about?

Today’s Webtoon is a quirky and enjoyable K-drama. The story centers on On Ma Eum, who once found her whole life revolving around the National Judo Team. When a tough match leaves her with a torn ankle ligament, her dreams are similarly torn up, forcing her to drift from sports… to the webtoon editorial department of a company. Predictably, Ma-Eum finds it hard to adjust.

Ma-Eum does eventually settle into her new way of life, she reaches for a new dream with her colleagues, Koo Jun-Yeong and Seok Jin-Hyun. Powerful forces seem to be conspiring against her though… will Ma-Eum realize her dreams and find happiness again?

Has Today’s Webtoon been renewed for season 2?

At the time of writing, SBS have not renewed Today’s Webtoon for season 2. Given the ratings over the weeks, it’ll be interesting to see if they actually do renew this for a follow-up.

The ratings began with a 4.1% share nationwide but since then, the show has been declining slightly, hovering around 2% share for the later episodes.

This drop, alongside the fact that most k-dramas wrap up their stories in a single season, would denote that this one has a very slim chance of being renewed. Given this is a simple drama at its heart, we predict Today’s Webtoon will not be renewed.

What we know about season 2 so far:

Most Korean dramas are reserved to one season and with the rare exception of ongoing Netflix shows (Love ft. Marriage and Divorce, Hospital Playlist etc.) then it seems unlikely that this one will be renewed.

However, there is always the possibility that the actors return for a follow-up for a sequel or a spin-off featuring the same characters. But regardless, we don’t see this one as being renewed.

Today’s webtoon success fully predicted my entire life, as i went to a journey to hopefully find my self, i never really once imagine that being on site, reading webtoon stories that generally made a piece of who and what i am today, and to continue even just a single laughter, sadness, anger and desperate to move forward it’s finest kdrama series. Today’s webtoon , as from the drama would say it, ” Even a flower grows on unexpected places, this just mean hope can be too”, and truthfully i’m one of those flowers. DAEBAK!

  2. I do believe that they should make season 2 I literally fell in love with this k drama as it was a beautiful slice of life and motivated me and even the ending is still open and I still have a lot of questions T_T

  3. Really liked the show! It’s a slice of life drama that got me really hooked, also cause I really like comics! Hope it gets renewed for season 2!

  4. I personally LOVED this k-drama so much and it’s ending was so heartwarming!! I wanna have a season 2 because i don’t want the male character to get rejected and i really wanna know what’s going to happen in the future as their relationship and the weebtoon’s company future!!!

  5. So many likable characters and it ended with some unanswered questions. I would love to see them produce a second season of maybe 8 episodes. This was such a warm friendly story and certainly falls into the “feel good” category.

  6. Please give us another season of this feel good we took. The characters are great & I know there is more story to tell. Not ready to let it go yet.

  8. I got really hooked up with the flow of the story I hope they could renew Today’s webtoon for Season 2. I believe that theirs a lot of unfinished stories to tell from each episodes and some of the characters should have an highlight story.
