Has The Watcher been Renewed for Season 2? Here’s what we know:

Renewed Or Cancelled?

The Watcher on Netflix is already trending in the top 10 at the time of writing. It was bound to happen and was even prophesized by yours truly right after episode 1! There is a great chance we can see it at the top. Ryan Murphy has done a number on us yet again.

His genius at crafting these suspense stories is second to none and The Watcher is binge-worthy and lives up to its billing of a psychological puzzle with maddening twists.

The series launched on Netflix on 13th October, and fans have already been sharing the same reactions to the series, with others digging into where the real characters are now.

If you’ve been following this one, you may be wondering if this has been renewed or cancelled. Well, wonder no more! Here’s what we know about a renewal:

What is The Watcher Season 1 about?

The Watcher follows the Brannock family moving into the Westfield suburban area after making a valiant financial effort. 657 Boulevard certainly seems like a dream home to the family of four. But things soon start to take a turn for the worse.

If their weird neighbors weren’t enough, they start getting threatening letters from someone calling themselves “the watcher”. It certainly seems that whosoever is behind the letters means harm to them and will use violence without hesitation. Dean and Nora, the adult Brannocks, get the life shaken out of them as they struggle to make sense of what to do next.

Their personal lives are a shambles and Dean’s professional life suffers too, creating friction between the two and leaving a cancer-inflicted jazz musician turned private detective to figure out the mystery behind the watcher and the house.

Has The Watcher been renewed for season 2?

The Watcher has officially been renewed for season 2! Chances are, despite its heroic performance on the viewership charts, Netflix’s hands are tied. Because the series is based on a real story, it cannot proceed further if there isn’t more of the story to tell. Of course, it can make a detour and reinvent season 2 as “loosely inspired by true events”.

Given the reaction to the ending, it would seem that Netflix are hoping to quell some of those doubters and reeling them in for another explosive season of mystery and drama.

What we know about season 2 so far:

Absolutely no details are known yet, however we could guess that the show will air next year around the end of October or November 2023. Beyond that though, there’s not much more to tell apart from that the show will be returning.

  1. Yes I want a season 2 they could just say loosely based on. Because it is anyway, it’s a mix of 2 true crime events. I have a crime site and have researched it before it came out. As well as the Graff part on unsolved mystery to as a kid.

  2. I liked the show but it was a total mess. Still have no idea what actually happened. Who was the girl on the videotape? Who killed the weasel? Wtf?

  3. Riveting. Did not watch until the series aired in its entirety. My hubby and I thought we would watch an episode here or there. We are 60, like the typical fair of GOT, Better Call Saul, Breaking Bad, The Morning Show, Vikings, etc But it turned out to be a ‘Watcher’ marathon. We could not wait for the next episode. For a mini series, with the stellar cast, We were captivated. Is it paranormal? Is it an evil neighbor? Is it a creepy psychotic stalker? A demonic cult? A who done it with a few interesting twists. Some predictable, but we did not care. People criticized the last episode’s ending. My only issue with the ending was just that. It ended and I wanted more. I could see the series going another season or two and be successful… but only if the majority of main characters remain. I want more.

  4. Not necessarily continuing the actual story it was based on BUT what if the Watcher followed them to their new home or was actually one of them…. I thought for awhile the daughter was the girl in the video. Or… is she???

  5. The watcher is an absolutely amazing show I was on the edge of my seat the whole time I just binged watched the entire show yesterday with my mom and sisters I think we lost are crap a bunch of times during the show exxspecially the scene at the ending of episode 5 that leads into episode 6 when they find the man in the tunnel we all screamed our heads off and we were watching it at night to we didn’t go to sleep until we finished the show at 12:30am it’s probably one of the best mystery shows I’ve scene. It was so awesome to be able to follow the story and try and figure out who it was with them. Definitely worth the time I would watch it all over again. Thank you to the amazing actors writers and producers who bring us this absolutely fabulous thrilling show.

  6. Love the show!! Hope for a second season.
My only complaint about Netflix is you become a fan of a show, e.g. Longmire, and then it is canceled!
The Episodes of many are very well done! And then it seems the abruptly are not renewed and just end! Umbrella Academy is an example!

  7. Yes I definitely would love to see a sequel to The Watcher. Because it left you hanging there is a brand new family who has moved into 657 boulevard. And they’ve never exposed Who The Watcher is so as a fictitious movie yes they could go forward on this. And who knows it could bring out the real watcher
