Given how the show ends, you may be wondering if this one’s been renewed or cancelled.

What is The Sound of Magic Season 1 about?

The Sound of Magic revolves around high school student Yoon Ah-Yi. She’s poor, eking out a living and between working part-time and trying to excel at school, finds herself in impossibly difficult circumstances.

One day her life changes forever. She meets a magician called Ri-Eul at an abandoned amusement park. He performs magic for people who believe in magic. He’s mysterious and comforts Ah-Yi, promising to help her. But is he really helping her?

Has The Sound of Magic been renewed for season 2?

At the time of writing, Netflix has not renewed The Sound of Magic for season 2.

The story does have a pretty conclusive ending, although Netflix K-dramas do tend to be popular on the platform too. There is a possibility that The Sound of Magic may be renewed. However, given most K-dramas wrap up their stories in a single season – this is unlikely.

On top of that, in December 2023, Netflix changed it to a limited series which means there will be no new season.

What we know about season 2 so far:

Most Korean dramas are reserved to one season and with the rare exception of ongoing Netflix shows (Love ft. Marriage and Divorce, Hospital Playlist etc.) and this seems to be the case for The Sound of Magic as well.

However, there is always the possibility that the actors return for a follow-up if another network picks up the show. It all depends on how popular the show is too. Given Squid Game’s success and how well-received these Netflix K-dramas are becoming, it’s not outside the realm of possibility.

    We, it need a second season!
    I Love any thing with, JI Chang Wook, in it. HEALER, EMPRESS KI, FIVE FINGERS, THE K2 & WORRIOR BEAK DONG SOO, just to name a few.
    All of his movies hold my interest from start to finish.

    i cried as soon i finished this drama. It was MAGIC! love all the story. BUT we need the cliffhanging stories to be cleared out. WHERE THE HELL RIEUL GO? WE WANT TO KNOW. WE WANT MOREEEE

  3. The love story between 2 highschool child is unfinished. Season 2 should answer this like happy ending K-drama

Want Season 2 of the sound of magic because where did ri-eul go what happened to him … Ah-yi and ri-eul should be meet again that’s not Matter that they would end up being friends or lovers and not only ah-yi and ri-eul , na ill-deung also should be meet them … Everyone is desperately wanted this …. Please make S02 of thiss …

  5. Where did ri-eul go after disappeared? season 1 is not ended properly there r so many things that are still unclarified!
    so please we all request you to make season 2 of the sound of magic. (DO YOU BELIEVE IN MAGIC?) I LOVED IT!

  7. The story really has not ended yet for either Ri-Eul and Ah-Yi. They need to find each other again.
    Definitely season 2.
    Great singing. Great story line. Touching performance by both main characters.

  10. It was fantastic but the ending was a little rushed .So many things were left unclarified.They should make a season two please . This was the best drama I have seen so far😍

  11. Second season or at least a better tie off to the boy that was head over heels for the girl. Like what was going on with that patch of skin on his back? What happened after he dropped out from school? Did he finally get that date? Like I get the magician not coming back. Fine. And I like the girls ending plenty fine. But what about the pregnant lady? Was the kiddo his? The ending felt so rushed compared to the rest of the series. Could have had one more episode to bring everything together smoothly.

  13. Yes to a season 2! I really wanted the story to go on and on. Wonderful acting, cinematography, music and I am a huge fan of Ji Chang-wook. So much talent.

  14. I hope for a 2nd season. Alot of loose ends..i want to see where the boy ended up after quiting school? Who was the women pregnat by? Where is her mother? So many things not clarified. This was a great way to exsplain growing pains and pressure from society on how yoth are pressured into being drones instead of dreamers.

  15. There definitely should be a season 2 for it. I don’t find the ending conclusive. If another seasons comes up, the magician will return. I’m eagerly waiting for its renewal…

  16. A great escape but also a counterbalance to the crazy politics of today. Beautifully done but too short. Yes to a 2nd season.

  23. I’m almost near the end and I’m sad about it. I’m enjoying the story, the music, and special effects. The main actors and actress are wonderful. I would give this a 10-star rating. Please make a 2nd season with all the same cast members!!!! All the other cast members were great too. Thank you to all who worked on this drama along with all the translators. Please make more of these type of dramas!!!
