Has The Lorenskog Disappearances been renewed for Season 2? Here’s what we know:

Renewed Or Cancelled?

The Lorenskog Disappearances is a well written slow burn crime drama. Based on true events, this semi-fictional re-telling does well to keep things interesting across the season.  After finishing all 5 episodes, you may be wondering if this has been renewed or cancelled. Here’s what we know:

What is The Lorenskog Disappearances about?

For those unaware, the story goes like this: Norwegian billionaire Tom Hagen left his mansion in Lorenskog one morning to visit his office at Futurum business park. In his absence, his wife, Anne-Elisabeth Hagen, was kidnapped and held to ransom.

With clear signs of a struggle inside the house, and a letter left behind threatening to harm or kill Anne if Tom and his family contact the police and media, things don’t look good. Not only that but the kidnappers also ask for 9 million euros to be paid through Monero cryptocurrency. Only then will she be returned safely. They also unnervingly claim to have been keeping an eye on the family for a while so will know if he goes to the police.

Tom does get the cops involved though, who discreetly start a covert operation to find out exactly who has taken Anne – and why. They do their best to keep it out of the media, but it’s only a matter of time before they get involved.

And get involved they do; the show follows criminal journalist Erlend as he ends up investigating this case, running parallel to Jorunn Lakke, an investigator intent on getting to the bottom of this.

Has The Lorenskog Disappearances been renewed for season 2?

At the time of writing, The Lorenskog Disappearances has not been renewed for a second season. Given the nature of the show’s content, that could well change if it does good numbers for Netflix.

Generally Netflix gauge numerous metrics before renewing a show, including how many people initially watch it and then looking at the drop-off rate. With some shows, cancellations or renewals happen quickly (ala. Squid Game, Bridgerton & Irregulars) Other times, it can take months before Netflix make a decision over a show’s future.

So far, The Lorenskog Disappearances has had a really good reception with critics giving this show decent reviews across the board. We also really enjoyed the slow burn crime drama too. Audiences are certainly positive on this too, which is always a bonus!

Taking everything into consideration, we’re predicting that The Lorenskog Disappearances will not be renewed for a second season. Given the case this is based on is still unresolved, and the characters have well-defined arcs that come to a close naturally, there’s not much room to expand from the final scene. Plus, as a Scandinavian crime drama, most of these sort of shows do end up resigned to a single season run.

We’ll be sure to update this section with accurate details over the coming weeks and months when we know more!

What we know about season 2 so far:

Barely anything is known about season 2 at this point, given Netflix have not green-lit a sequel. The conclusion, as mentioned above, doesn’t really open this one up to an expansion.

Of course, if more details are revealed about the true case and there’s room for the characters to evolve and grow, we could see a surprise renewal on the cards. As mentioned above, we predict that thiswill not be renewed but we’ll be sure to update this page in the future when more information is known though!

  1. Second 2. Expand more on that Monero guy. His relationship with Tom. Tom was very calm throughout. His call to the police was like emotionless and he explained he was in shock. Weird to me.

  2. Hey Netflix…
A loyal customer here… however it is absolutely disgraceful and disrespectful to those of us who have supported you with our time and dollars to leave us hanging with a series that may not be renewed for an obviously needed second season and/ or one more episode ending… wow… soooo disappointing… I mean… CANCEL your NETFLIX level disappointing… It is YOUR responsibility to offer only those series which your are certain have a proper ending… particularly crime dramas… to quote another commenter… SHAMEFUL!!!!!!

  3. A second season is needed to understand the crime when it is based on a real case. It makes no sense to cancel it

  4. Very disappointed that you will not have season 2
Don’t like to be left hanging in the middle of good show……….kindly reconsidder putting out Season 2.

  5. I was totally absorbed in this series but very disappointed at the conclusion of episode 5. Being left hanging without a conclusion Mr Netflix is unprofessional. Either wrap it up with an episode 6 or stretch it out with a Season 2. It was compelling to watch.

  6. IF WE HAD KNOWN THERE WOULDN’T BE AN ENDING, WE WOULDN’T HAVE WASTED OUR TIME WATCHING SEASON ONE! Thanks Netflix, but no thanks. I think I am ready to drop STREAMING.

  7. In this show the characters seem real, they try to do the right thing but make lots of mistakes. The audience learns about their motivations, desires and dreams.
The different angles help creating a full story.
Would love seeing a second season

  8. Great acting. And for me, very good English dubbing and subtitles. A second season could explore the side issues and crimes (personal family dramas, informant suicide and criminal enterprise) as well as the disappearance. A non-resolution at the end of the series begs a second season. All those criticizing this and needing a resolution would be sure to watch it!! I hope to see much more.

  9. Excellent writing and acting. Only bring back a second season when And if the mystery in real life is solved. Too frustrating to not have an ending.

  10. Wish you would state that it finished in the middle of the story so no ending, this happens a lot with netflix. A season 2 would would give it an ending otherwise what is the point of watching half a story, 5 hours wasted

  11. Come on Netflix there has to be an ending. If it’s based on facts was she dead or leave him. I hated the ending. You MUST go on. PLEASE,PLEASE,PLEASE.

  12. Just finishing watching the 5 episodes..excellent in terms of build-up, characters and many leads etc.
But like many have stated, we are left hanging in terms closure on so many fronts !!

  13. If I had know there would be no conclusion to the story I would not have started watching. Shame on you Netflix!

  14. I really want a conclusion, couldn’t believe there wasn’t an episode 6, so second season please. Ann Winchester

  15. Definitely Season 2! Compelling film, strong well-developed characters, a narrative that’s not been completed!

  16. I would LOVE to see a second season. My husband and I prefer Nordic series’ so please start writing!!!
Our rating would be 7.4 :)))

  17. This is sad about a lot Netflix series it’s very suspense and intence show that’s one of the reasons people are leaving Netflix it’s just sickening

  18. I was very intrigued by this story. I really don’t like how the limited series ended. I feel there is more to the story. So myself like others are waiting for season 2

  19. Given the source of the story line, I believe that the producers should wait to attempt a second season until such time as the underlying story provides a narrative for the fictional one.

  20. I really love the show I really love to see 2 season o final season …..Netflix need to finish the good show they start. I want the end of the history

  21. It was really good to watch and it would be good to get a second series. But if the case was unresolved there not much they can write about
