Korean BL dramas are garnering a lot of attention online over the last three years. With South Korea finally narrating many interesting stories about homosexual male couples, there have been a lot of K-BL titles aired in the last few months that have kept fans well-fed. The Eighth Sense is one such Korean drama that follows the story of a homosexual couple that is trying to survive their most intense years as University students while they navigate their romantic lives and mental health struggles.
Starring Im Ji-sub and Oh Jun-taek in the lead roles, the show narrates the story of Ji-hyun, a freshman who finds himself attracted to his senior – Jae-won. Jae-won is unaware of his own feelings but finds himself gravitating towards Ji-hyun making for an interesting story of love and heartache between these two characters.
After finishing all 10 episodes, you may be wondering if this angsty BL K-drama has been renewed or cancelled. Here’s what we know:
What is The Eighth Sense about?
The Eighth Sense follows the life of Ji-hyun, a freshman at a university in Seoul. When Ji-hyun comes from a small town and finds it hard to make meaningful relationships when he moves to Seoul, the busy capital of the country. Feeling disorientated and confused, Ji-hyun meets Jae-won who is a senior at the university. The two boys develop a mutual curiosity about one another when Ji-hyun joins the same surfing club as Jae-won.

Has The Eighth Sense been renewed for Season 3?
At the time of writing, the makers of the show have not renewed The Eighth Sense for season 2. Given the popularity of the show, as well as the love showered by fans to season 1, one could expect the romance BL drama to be renewed for another follow-up season.
The first season of The Eighth Sense was released on the international streaming platform – Gagaoolala as well as Viki on March 29 for five weeks. Fans have rated the show really well on websites like MyDramaList among others. Each episode of The Eighth Sense has seen a consistent rating between 9 and 9.5 out of 10 for all ten episodes.
Officially, the show has not been renewed for a third season yet. However, given the popularity of the show and the number of fans requesting for this angsty drama to be renewed for another season, we can hope for The Eighth Sense to be renewed for a new season.
With that being said, there is a very low chance for the show to be renewed for a second season given the fact that most Korean BL dramas often run only for one season. What we know about The Eighth Sense Season 2 so far:
Most Korean BL dramas are reserved for one season but given the fact that fans of The Eighth Sense are theorizing the ending of Season 1, one could expect the show to be renewed for a second season on public demand. The show concluded on a cryptic note with Jae-won and Ji-hyun driving into the night.
It can be expected that since Jae-won chose to ignore his trauma rather than face it head-on, the couple could meet with an accident that could result in Ji-hyun’s death, forcing Jae-won to process the death of his brother. The final episode also saw Jae-won getting mad at Ji-hyun when he joked about dying. This could well be another hint at the possible trajectory of the second season of The Eighth Sense.
Since the makers of the show themselves captioned an Instagram post as ‘The Eighth Sense Season 1’ fans of the Korean BL are speculating that the second season of the show could already be in the works. This could be a major clue to the upcoming release of the new season of The Eighth Sense Season 2. We generally aim to update this page when more information becomes available.
