The genre of science-fiction romance is barely explored in Indian Cinema. Hence the addition of the 2024 romance-comedy Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya is one that many fans of Bollywood have been looking forward to.

The film stars Shahid Kapoor and Kriti Sanon in the lead roles and also sees actors like Dimple Kapadia, veteran legend – Dharmendra and more in supporting roles. Over the past few months, the music featured in the film has gotten a lot of attention online which has in turn made fans curious to see this impossible story of romance between a human and an AI robot.

What is Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya about?

After finding no luck in romance, Robotics Engineer Aaryan Agnihotri takes a trip to the USA to meet his aunt. He is trying to escape his family who is forcing him to get married. Meanwhile, Aaryan’s aunt – Urmila who is also his boss asks him to hang out with her assistant – Sifra while she goes on a work trip to Belgium.

Aaryan is shocked when he first sees Sifra and ends up falling in love with her. However, he is gobsmacked after Aunt Urmila tells him that Sifra is a human-like, high-functioning robot. Urmila reveals that her team had programmed Sifra in a way that she could clone a human being. While Aaryan tries to get over his feelings for Sifra, he realises that he would rather marry her than any other human woman.

Will there be a sequel to Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya?

If you, like us, sat through the end of the film, you know that Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya ends with a cliffhanger and a “To Be Continued” note. Based on this ending, we know for a fact that Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiyo will be renewed for a second part.

There is no other direct hint from the makers as to when the upcoming sequel of this science-fiction romance will be released. In terms of a release date, expect around a year turn-around so it may well be in 2025 when this one drops. What could happen in Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya 2?

We see how after she malfunctions, Aunt Urmila takes the AI robot, Sifra, back to the USA to have her rebooted. We also know that she was brought back to India for a launch event as Sifra 2.0 with all data related to Aaryan removed. However, in the final moments of the film, Aaryan notices Sifra feeling the emotion of jealousy as he talks to a girl named Riya. 

The sequel can feature a potential romance between humans and robots in the future considering Sifra developing feelings and emotions despite being rebooted. Moreover, the special appearance of Janhvi Kapoor as Riya also hints at a possible love triangle in the upcoming sequel as Sifra may try to stop Aaryan from falling in love with Riya, who unlike her is a human being.

For now, though, we’ll have to wait and see what’s in store for us next.
