After gaining immense popularity for its first season in 2021, the popular revenge K-drama Taxi Driver was renewed for a second season in 2022. SBS released the new season with most of the original cast bringing the Rainbow Taxi’s side operation back into the business.
Starring Lee Je-hoon, Kim Eui-sung, Pyo Ye-jin, Jang Hyuk-jin, Bae Yoo-ram and Shin Jae-ha in the lead roles, the show follows the story of a group of people that help the desperate seek revenge on evildoers that have wronged their family members or people they love.
After finishing the 16 episodes of its second season, you may be wondering if the popular revenge K-drama, Taxi Driver, has been renewed or cancelled. Here’s what we know:
What is Taxi Driver about?
The award-winning show follows the story of family members of victims of violence who wanted to end their lives after losing their loved ones. Finding refuge in one another, these people form a secret group under the taxi service – Rainbow Taxi. With the help of this group, these people help desperate victims of other such crimes seek revenge from evildoers.
After getting themselves involved in solving a few cases associated with a group of people that participate in illegal activities the Rainbow Taxi revenge crew risk their lives to expose the evildoings of a bogus clergyman – The Bishop. The taxi driver Kim Do-gi (played by Lee Je-hoon) and his group consisting of Go-eun (played by Pyo Ye-jin), Kyung-goo (played by Jang Hyuk-jin), Jin-eon (played by Bae Yoo-ram) and Sung-cheol (played by Kim Eui-sung) clash with the evil mastermind – The Bishop and his right-hand man On Ha-joon (played by Shin Jae-ha).

Has Taxi Driver been renewed for Season 3?
At the time of writing, SBS have renewed Taxi Driver for season 3. Given the popularity of the show’s first season as well as the love showered by fans to season 2, that’s perhaps unsurpising.
The new season of Taxi Driver has recorded steady No. 1 nationwide ratings for its timeslot with their highest rated episode, Episode 14 scoring 18.3% nationwide ratings.
Officially, the show has been renewed for a third season. Given the fact that the show covers a lot of real-life incidents of crime, there’s plenty of material to mine here. You can actually check out more of this news over at Soompi in their latest article.
It’s likely that it could be released in December of 2023 or early 2024.
What we know about Taxi Driver Season 3 so far:
Seeing that most of the cases from Seasons 1 and 2 were inspired by real-life stories of crime, a third season of Taxi Driver will likely see the team avenge recent victims who have been wronged.
With how season 2 ended, an epilogue from the last episode showed Do-gi entering a military base camp as the investigating officer of a sexual assault case involving a female soldier who was assaulted by her seniors.
We can also hear the other military officers talking about killing easily being able to kill Do-gi if he was to expose them. Do-gi reports to duty in December 2023, which is a date in the future and this could be a major clue to the upcoming release of the new season of Taxi Driver 3.
