Renewed Or Cancelled?
Surviving Summer is the latest tween drama, combining sun, sand, surfing and soapy shenanigans. With 10 episodes, each clocking in at a little under 27 minutes, this is a very easy show to slip into.
If you’ve finished watching this one, you may be wondering if this one’s been renewed or cancelled.
What is Surviving Summer about?
The story centers on Summer Torres, a wild child who has an estranged relationship with her mother Margot.
With a big work gig coming up, Margot ships Summer off to the other side of the world (Australia to be precise!) to stay with her family friends, the Gibson’s, while she jets off for her next career opportunity.
When Summer arrives in the tiny town of Shorehaven, she’s taken in by the Gibson family. Of course, Summer plots her escape and attempts to make it back to New York.
Despite her best efforts, Summer soon comes to enjoy staying in Shorehaven, partly thanks to forming a bond with kindred spirit Ari Gibson.

Has Surviving Summer been renewed for season 2?
At the time of writing, Surviving Summer has not been renewed for a second season. Given the ending though, that’s perhaps not surprising.
Generally Netflix gauge numerous metrics before renewing a show, including how many people initially watch it and then looking at the drop-off rate per episode. With some shows, cancellations or renewals happen quickly (ala. Squid Game, Bridgerton & Irregulars). Other times, it can take months before Netflix make a decision over a show’s future.
So far, Surviving Summer has had a pretty mixed reception from critics but generally favourable from audiences.
Based on the ending and the reception, we’re predicting that Surviving Summer will not be renewed for a second season.
We’ll be sure to update this section with more details as they become available.
What we know about season 2 so far:
Barely anything is known about season 2 at this point, given Netflix have not green-lit a sequel.
However, if the streaming giants do renew this one, there’s certainly lots of ideas on the table. We could see Summer return to see Ali and the gang, or we could see Ali hop across to the Big Apple and see how Summer has acclimatized. Not only that but the supporting characters could sport their own spin-offs or separate story threads to be explored.
For now though, we’re under the impression that there will not be a season 2 but we will aim to update this page when more information becomes available.
