Renewed Or Cancelled?
Squid Game is an entertaining K-drama boasting good acting, a gorgeous aesthetic and a riveting plotline set inside a dystopian game. The style of this show leans into something like Black Mirror while the overall plotline is much closer to Liar Game or Alice In Borderland. The ensuing result was one of 2021’s best shows. After the sequel has released, you may be curious to know if this is coming back for season 3. Well, here’s everything we know about that:
What is Squid Game about?
Our main character here is Gi-Hun, a down-on-his-luck guy who finds himself obsessed with gambling and struggling to make ends meet. He’s completely debt-ridden and owes millions to both loan sharks and the bank.
However, all of that changes when he wins Squid Game, and fast forward 2 years, and Gi-hun is back, this time determined to take down the system that took many of his friends from him.

Has Squid Game been renewed for season 3?
At the time of writing, Squid Game HAS been renewed for a third season so expect to see more of this one in the future. Squid Game has been Netflix’s most popular original so it shouldn’t really come as much of a surprise that this is the case. We already knew ahead of release that this one would be returning again, but it doesn’t make the cliffhanger ending we get any less difficult to stomach.
What we know about season 3 so far
Barely anything is known about season 3 at this point, given the second season has only just dropped. We do get a little teaser for season 3 at the end, which seems to hint at a new game on the horizon and potentially some sort of game where two sets of dolls for Red Light, Green Light are going to compete.
We do know that Squid Game season 3 is expected to drop sometime in 2025. We also know that seasons 2 and 3 were written and filmed together, which could explain why the show doesn’t really wrap anything up and feels so disparate for the way every plot thread is still open.
According to that aforementioned interview with Digital Spy, it would appear that the editing is actually nearly done on part 3 as well. So when could we see this released? Well, given the way this is set up, we’d imagine you can expect a release any time between April and September, depending on the general feedback and hype over season 3.
There’s definitely a lot of different ideas Squid Game could explore, but right now, we’ll just have to wait and see what the writers have in store for us.
