What is Oddballs about?

Oddballs centers on a marshmallow-looking boy called James, who’s joined by his crazy crocodile pal Max as they navigate the world and get into different misadventures. Each chapter explores and pokes fun of tropes, puns and social issues, spinning them in a way where there’s both a moral lesson at work and a good dose of creativity to boot.

There is a longer thread running through this, with the finale linking back to earlier episodes, but I’m not about to spoil that here as the reveal is a lovely way of tying everything together. For the most part though, the content here work as standalone episodic romps, so it’s very easy to slip in and out of this one. Although I would recommend watching the lot as there are characters here that tie into the bigger picture.

Has Oddballs been renewed for season 2?

At the time of writing, Oddballs has been renewed for a second season! Given the nature of the show’s content, that’s great news for fans of the original YouTube channel and the subsequent Netflix series.

Generally Netflix gauge numerous metrics before renewing a show, including how many people initially watch it and then looking at the drop-off rate. With some shows, cancellations or renewals happen quickly (ala. Squid Game, Bridgerton & Irregulars) Other times, it can take months before Netflix make a decision over a show’s future.

Oddballs has had a pretty positive reception with critics and audiences alike really digging this one. We predicted that this would be renewed and it’s fantastic to see Netflix giving it the green-light. The Instagram page, Netflixfamily, officially dropped the news so we can certainly expect more animated shenanigans in the future.

What we know about season 2 so far:

Barely anything is known about season 2 at this point, given Netflix have only just green-lit a sequel.

At the end, we learnt that our little evil toaster didn’t die after all and is responsible for the food crisis currently gripping the future. The future that Echo has been trying to stop. A second season will likely see our characters tackle that head on, with more humour and a fight for the future!
