Renewed Or Cancelled?
Move to Heaven is a Korean series split across 10 episodes. The entire season is up on Netflix now, with episodes that clock in at a little under an hour.
This emotionally stirring K-drama certainly kicked up a storm when it released. It’s also one of the best K-dramas of 2021!
What is Move to Heaven about?
Suffering from Aspergers, Geu-Roo is our main protagonist and he’s looked after by his Father Jeong-U. These two live together, running a business called Move to Heaven.
When a loved one passes away, a team arrive and clear out the room, collecting up any valuables in a yellow box while getting rid of everything else. This act also allows the loved ones of the deceased a respite from the harrowing ordeal of having to do this themselves.
When Jeong-U passes away however, Geu-Roo is left on his own until guardianship falls to his estranged brother Sang-Koo.
Numerous cases ensue across the season, which we have extensive coverage of across our episodic recaps. You can check them out by clicking HERE.
Has Move to Heaven been renewed for season 2?
At the time of writing, Netflix has not made an official announcement about the future of Move to Heaven.
It’s not uncommon for most Korean dramas to round out their stories with a single season, however Netflix Original K-dramas have had a good track record.
SBS’s Penthouse, TV Chosun’s Love ft. Marriage & Divorce and Netflix’s Love Alarm are the more prolific examples of this. Although no announcement has been officially made, given the way Move to Heaven finishes its story, we predict that there will be a second season. This is still speculation though so far, but if this changes then we’ll be sure to update this page.
Critics and audience scores have been good to great overall, although with no Nielsen figures to go on, it remains to be seen how many watched this through to the end.
What we know about season 2 so far:
Nothing has been confirmed about season 2 but we do believe Netflix will renew this one. The streaming giants have said they want to expand out their Korean IPs and Move to Heaven has been very popular.
This 10 episode drama closes everything out with a tantalizing cliffhanger that leaves lots of possible story threads going forward. If this is renewed, we expect Tang Joon-Sang to return as Geu-Roo while Lee Je-Hoon could return as Sang-Koo.

We will generally aim to update this page when more information becomes available.

Netflix is insane if they don’t already have a Season 2 in the works for this. I understand if they don’t go beyond that as most Netflix K-Drama’s are limited to maybe 2 Seasons, if not just 1. However, the way they left this it’s almost unthinkable not to consider a continuation. Unfortunately, Netflix is full of missed opportunities, an example would be not dubbing ‘Crash Landing On You’ in English when it’s a Netflix Original. The potential for an extended audience was missed completely simply because of a caption barrier. I for one am not bothered either way by captions, but considering they often Dub series that are far less popular, it seems redundant.
This is a fabulous show! Please, please have a season 2 and as many more as possible of Move to Heaven. One of Netflix”s finest!
Never had a K-Drama punch me in the gut as quickly as this one! I was crying buckets within minutes.
Tang Joon-Sang is a phenomenal actor at such a young age. I foresee him with a great acting career for years to come.
PLEASE bring back several more seasons, not just a second!
