Renewed Or Cancelled?
If the story of a woman going crazy and turning into an axe murderer to kill her lover’s wife rings a bell, Candace ‘Candy’ Montgomery is to thank for it.
Love & Death is an HBO Max original that revisits the popular case of Candy Montgomery, a churchgoer from Wylie, Texas who killed her friend, Betty Gore, over her affair with Betty’s husband, Allan Gore.
The case has already been made into different movies and TV shows in the past, the most recent adaptation being the Hulu original, Candy starring Jessica Biel. Now with Elizabeth Olsen playing Candy in the new HBO Original, the show has garnered a lot of attention for the controversy around it.
If you’ve finished watching this one, you may be wondering if Love & Death has been renewed or cancelled. Here’s what we know so far:
What is Love & Death about?
Love & Death follows the story of Candy Montgomery. Candy and her friend, Betty Gore, have a lot in common: They sang together in the Methodist church choir, their daughters were best friends, and their husbands had good jobs working for technology companies in the north Dallas suburbs known as Silicon Prairie. But beneath the placid surface of their seemingly perfect lives, both women simmered with unspoken frustrations and unanswered desires.
After propositioning an affair with Betty’s husband, Allan Gore, Candy gets entangled with him, keeping all of it a secret from their respective spouses. However, when Betty learns about the affair that had ended months ago, things get out of hand. Betty allegedly attacks Candy with an axe which makes her retaliate in a way neither of them imagined.
We have coverage of Love & Death across the site, including episode recaps for the first season as well as a full season review for the first season. You can check those out HERE.
Has Love & Death been renewed for Season 2?
Since Love & Death is based on a real life case, it is highly unlikely that the show will be renewed for a second season. The story of Candy Montgomery has been said multiple times and the Elizabeth Olsen starrer could be considered the most popular retelling of the case.
All things considered, the show ended with a proper conclusion which makes us predict that the HBO Max Original, Love & Death will not be renewed for a second season.
However, we will be sure to update this page if the makers do decide to renew the show for a new season in the months to come.
What we know about Love & Death Season 2 so far:
Not much is known about season 2 at the time of writing, given HBO Max has not officially renewed this one yet. Should the streamers decide to greenlight this one, it is fair to assume that we will see more of Candy’s life following the case.
However, we are sure that the story of Candy Montgomery’s life has run its course and the show Love & Death will not be renewed for a second season.
We’ll be sure to update this section with more information as it becomes available.
