After Netflix started producing original shows from different regions around the world, the streaming platform has become a pool of content that viewers from around the world can enjoy at the palm of their hands. Japanese dramas or J-dramas are a new genre that Netflix is branching into as it releases new original TV shows and movies in the Japanese language.
One such addition to the list is the 2023 Japanese TV Show, Let’s Get Divorced. The 9-episode drama follows the story of a couple – a politician named Shoji and an actress named Yui – who are in a marriage that is in shambles after Shoji cheated on Yui. Now, as the first season of Let’s Get Divorced has finally ended, there is one lingering question that many fans have after watching the season finale. Has this been renewed?

What is Let’s Get Divorced about?
The show follows the story of Yui and Shoji, who act like a happy couple in the public eye. However, their marriage is far from perfect because Yui refuses to even talk to Shoji after she learns that he cheated on her. Knowing that Shoji is a third-generation politician whose parents would go to any length to save their family’s reputation, Yui tries to get a divorce.
However, Yui learns that her public image will suffer badly, potentially ending her acting career if she was ever to leave Shoji. The couple finally decide to end their marriage amicably but wonder if they could even set aside their differences and start a family together.
Will there be a Season 2 of Let’s Get Divorced?
At the time of writing, Netflix has not renewed Let’s Get Divorced for a second season. Given the ratings over the weeks, it’ll be interesting to see if they actually do renew this for a follow-up.
The show hasn’t been as popular as the other shows on the streaming platform which makes it likely that the Japanese drama will not be renewed for a second season. With the show ending with 9 episodes leaving no loose ends, we think that the story has run its course.
Given that most Japanese dramas only run for a single season, and the ratings aren’t exactly lighting up the J-drama schedule, we predict Let’s Get Divorced will not be renewed.

Most Japanese dramas are reserved for one season, as detailed above, with the rare exception of popular Netflix shows like Alice in Borderland.
It seems unlikely that this one will be renewed but there is always the possibility that the actors might return for a follow-up sequel or a spin-off featuring the same characters. But based on everything we’ve seen, Let’s Get Divorced will probably not be renewed, so you shouldn’t get your hopes up for Season 2.

Yes, there should be a 2nd season. The ending is like a cliff hanger. Would be nice to see Yui end up remarrying Shoji again. Would look good for yoji. The movie was nicely done, but ending g was horrible which led me to mot rate the movie properly.
