The 1950s-set series follows Brie Larson’s character, the brilliant chemist Elizabeth Zott, as she pursues a career in science and ends up landing her own cooking show, called Supper at Six. The show puts her in a unique position to speak feminist messages to her viewers.

Has Lessons in Chemistry been renewed for season 2?

Generally Apple TV+ gauges numerous metrics before renewing a show, including how many people initially watch it and drop-off rates. The completion rate is one of the most important metrics.
With some shows, cancellations or renewals happen quickly. Other times, it can take months before Apple TV+ makes a decision over a show’s future.
So far, Lessons in Chemistry has had a pretty good reaction from critics and audiences alike, with many discussing Brie Larson’s strong performance as Elizabeth Zott.
However, given the way this show is set up, we’re predicting that this will not be renewed for a second season. This is due to the fact that the show has been advertised as a limited series to be based on Bonnie Garmus’ book. Additionally, Garmus told Los Angeles Times that she currently has no plans to write a sequel.

Barely anything is known about season 2 at this point, given Apple TV+ has not green-lit a sequel. However, if this is renewed, we could potentially expect the story to follow Elizabeth’s continued pursuits in science, or even a storyline that follows Mad.

This show is fantastic, and even if Bonnie Garmus has no plans for a sequel, the end of season 1 left fertile ground for script writers to continue Elizabeth’s story
