Has I Love That For You been renewed for season 2? Here’s what we know

Renewed Or Cancelled?

I Love That For You follows the career journey of cancer survivor Joanna Gold as she enters her dream job: a hosting position on a home shopping network. Unfortunately, Joanna gets the job by lying about her cancer – she tells her interviewers that she still has the disease and this gives them the incentive to hire her, despite her disastrous trial.

Despite the problematic nature of Joanna’s actions, this series (streaming on Showtime in the US and Paramount+ in the UK) is very funny and this is largely thanks to the excellent script and accomplished performances of the cast, most notably Vanessa Bayer as Joanna Gold and Molly Shannon as Jackie Stilton, Joanna’s shopping network idol.

If you have enjoyed the first series, you will understandably want to know if there will be a second season.

Here’s what we know so far.

Has I Love That For You been renewed for Season 2?

At the time of writing, a second season has been cancelled according to TVLine.

According to information found online, the viewing figures for the show aren’t particularly high at the moment although it has been critically well-received. If more people get to hear about the show and petition, the studio may change their mind. Or the show could always be picked up by another platform.

What could happen in Season 2?

SPOILER ALERT…

At the end of Season 1, Joanna’s lie was uncovered by her snooty co-worker Beth-Ann and this forced her to reveal the truth about her illness to the people around her. Her co-workers were obviously less-than-happy about Joanna’s deceit but Patricia, her boss, decided to let her keep her job regardless.

But in the closing moment of the last episode, Joanna received a phone call from somebody at a rival network offering her a job.  Considering the hatred towards her from some of her colleagues, she gladly accepted the offer of a meeting to discuss the possibility of this new role.

Season 2 could follow on from this moment and we could get to see whether or not Joanna is successful in securing a position with another shopping channel.

We should also get to learn more about Patricia and her cancer diagnosis which proved to be a major plot point in the latter half of the first season.

This is just speculation but if you have your own theories on Season 2, please let us know.

When will we get to see Season 2 of I Love That For You?

As a second season has been cancelled, it’s difficult to say.

Who will be in Season 2 of I Love That For You?

Vanessa Bayer, the star and co-creator of the show, is guaranteed to return if the show is picked up. We should also see the return of Molly Shannon (Jackie), Jennifer Lewis (Patricia), and the other actors who played the hosts and crew members of the home shopping network that Joanna was a part of.

This is assuming Joanna remains at the network, of course. If she decides to move on with her career elsewhere, we might be introduced to a new set of characters, although there might still be room for the original cast members somewhere in the storyline.

That’s all we know for now but we aim to update this page when new information is released.
