Renewed Or Cancelled?
Korean dramas are enjoying immense popularity globally and now, all thanks to the streaming giant Netflix, are taking on the task of producing many original dramas for fans to enjoy, the genre seems to be unstoppable. Netflix have now released Bloodhounds, an 8-episode drama set in the trying times of the Covid-19 pandemic.
Bloodhounds narrates the story of two young boxers who get entangled in the loan shark business and take it upon themselves to avenge the murder of their friends. As they go on a rampant journey to take down a maniac of a loan shark, these boys find themselves slipping through the cracks of the evil criminal world while they try to keep their ‘boxer’s heart’ alive.
If you’ve finished watching this one, you may be wondering if Bloodhounds has been renewed or cancelled. Here’s what we know so far:
What is Bloodhounds about?
Kim Gun-woo is a boxer, who trains vigorously in order to make money and repay the loan his single mother is struggling to pay back. Gun-woo’s mother takes on another loan from the loaning agency – Smile Capitals, owned by Myeong-gil, without realising that she was being trapped by the scammer.
Meanwhile, Woo-jin is Gun-woo’s friend and also a boxer who is willing to do anything to help his friend get back on his feet.
Together, the two end up on the doorstep of President Choi, a veteran loan shark who only loans money to needy people without any interest to help them in trying times. His adoptive granddaughter, Hyeon-jo, is against his principles and tries to figure out how Smile Capitals operates and hires Gun-woo and Woo-jin to help her out. The trio soon discover that the loan agency is scamming poor people by taking out fake loans in their name.
Meanwhile, Myeong-gil had acquired most of his money after stealing from President Choi and wants to build a Casino in South Korea in order to make money out of people’s desperation.
We have extensive coverage of Bloodhounds across the site, including episode recaps for the first season as well as full a season review for the K-drama. You can check those out HERE.
Will there be a Season 2 of Bloodhounds?
At the time of writing, Bloodhounds has been reportedly renewed for Season 2.
Generally Netflix, like other streaming platforms, gauges numerous metrics before renewing a show, including how many people initially watch it and then looking at the drop-off rate. With some shows, cancellations or renewals happen quickly (ala. Squid Game, Bridgerton etc.) Other times, it can take months before Netflix make a decision over a show’s future.
So far, Bloodhounds has had a pretty positive reaction from audiences and critics alike within the initial days of its release. The show is currently seeing favourable reviews with an 8.1/10 rating on IMDB, an 86% on RottenTomatoes and an 8.7/10 rating on MyDramaList.
We’ll be sure to update this section with accurate details over the coming weeks and months when we know more!
What we know about Bloodhounds Season 2 so far:
Not much is known about season 2 at the time of writing. Should we get Bloodhounds Season 2, it’s fair to assume that Gun-woo and Woo-jin will be back to take on another loan shark or corrupt person in power.
Since the boys had trusted Mr Hong Min-beom with President Choi’s gold bars, it is possible that the rich chaebol betrays Gun-woo and Woo-jin which forces them to return to the world of crime and teach him a lesson. Moreover, it is possible for Hyeon-jo to return and join the boxers in their new quest after finally forgiving herself for what happened to President Choi.
We’ll be sure to update this section with more information as it becomes available.

Please renew and make another season. The show/ episode’s were amazing!!!! As soon as I watched the 1st episode, I was enticed to watch the rest of the entire series. The main thing I fell in love with was the characters and getting to know them, BUT the plot just had me “on the edge of my seat, I couldn’t stop watching bc it was go great and wonderful.” I hope Netflix comes out not only with another season, but I hope it can go at least “a couple seasons out if that were possible!!!!!” The actors, the plot, everything about the show was absolutely fantastic!!!
Renew! I thought of the idea of Min-beom being the next villain. However, I don’t want to see Siwon as the bad guy. I agree with jc, introduce a new bad guy and keep the bond among Gun-woo, Woo-jin, and Minbeom.
I am really hoping they renew Bloodhounds for at i east one more season. I never even go to finish the last half of the last episode: one day it was on then it was gone the next. I have now watched several k-dramas, and find that they are well done and engaging, e.g., addictive. I’ve enjoyed several Chinese dramas, as well as other foreign films. But I don’t like having the rug pulled out.
And keep the friends.
renew 100% but a new bad guy keep the nice friends!
