Renewed Or Cancelled?
Arcane is an action anime based around the popular game League of Legends. Created by the French production company Fortiche, alongside Riot Games of course, Arcane has taken Netflix by storm these past few weeks.
Armed with strong storytelling, accurate character representations from the video game and plenty of fans eager for more, Arcane has been one of the bigger surprises of 2021.
What is Arcane about?
Arcane is an action-packed animated adventure, depicting the origin story for two iconic League of Legends champions – Vi and Powder. The sisters find themselves caught in the middle of a big power struggle, with the utopia Piltover overshadowing the oppressed underground city of Zaun.
With hostilities between the two sides growing ever-more volatile across the season, a shocking discovery rocks this world to its very foundations.
There’s a lot more going on than that, but essentially this is a tale of betrayal, love, greed and power, wrapping up with gorgeous visuals and an enigmatic group of characters.

Has Arcane been renewed for season 2?
At the time of writing, Arcane has been renewed for a second season! Given how popular this has been across the globe, along with the President of Riot Entertainment Shauna Spenley himself teasing that there’s “more to come”, the future certainly looks bright for this anime adaptation.
There is a deep and extensive lore behind league of Legends and because of this, the animated series really could go in a number of different directions in its follow-up.
Each of the different champions have an extensive amount of background that’s only really been touched upon in the show and further seasons could examine this in a lot more detail, with a much larger and more expansive arc than 9 episodes.

What we know about season 2 so far:
Barely anything is known about season 2 at this point, given Netflix have only just announced that has been renewed. However, the conclusion leaves lots of possibilities for a follow-up.
We could see a much larger threat looking set to upend Piltover, with the Solari-Lunari conflict a very real possibility. We could also even see the mercenary Sivir make an appearance.
There are an awful lot of possibilities for the second season but we’ll have to wait and see where the scriptwriters choose to go next.
