What is Alchemy of Souls Season 1 about?
Alchemy of Souls is the latest fantasy K-Drama, revolving around the fate of “hwanhonsool”, which are basically the souls of the dead returning to the land of the living.
The story takes place in Daeho, where Jang Wook happens to be part of the noble Jang family. He holds a dark secret since birth and is a bit of a troublemaker.
One day, Jang Wook meets an elite warrior but her soul is trapped in a physically weak body. She becomes Jang Wook’s servant, while teaching him how to fight in private.
With faint wisps of fantasy, horror and romance, Alchemy of Souls throws these characters head-first into a crazy adventure.

Has Alchemy of Souls been renewed for season 2?
At the time of writing, tvN have renewed Alchemy of Souls for season 2, at least according to multiple reports, including this article in India Today. Given the ratings over the weeks, and the potential for growth, that’s perhaps not surprising.
The ratings started with a 5.2% share nationwide but since then, the show has been a hit internationally and steadily increasing over the weeks.
This rise in ratings, alongside the fact that this show has a lot of lore, history and intriguing political drama, it’s great news for fans of this series.

What we know about season 2 so far:
Barely anything is known about season 2 right now, although rumours are that Jung So-Min is stepping down as Mu-Deok and Go Yoon-jung could well replace her. However, there’s no definitive word on that yet. However, it’s fair to say we could see a lot of familiar faces return for the follow-up.
Given most Korean dramas are reserved to one season, it’s rare to find these sort of shows renewed, however we have seen a whole bunch of K-dramas renewed in recent months, including both Taxi Driver and Tale of the Nine Tailed. For now though, we’ll have to wait and see what season 2 has in store for us!

I love mu-deok.. she’s full of expression and I love her character. Not in love with the first few episodes of this new girl. She doesnt expressed very well and not as spontaneous as mu-deok. I just feel she’s just trying to maintain her looks all the time. Just because she’s a model and famous.. doesn’t mean it’s a good idea to suddenly change the character. mu-deok will always be the character in my heart.
I wish they would continue acting the film
I’m from India, i loved mudak and now seeing the season 2 i feel utterly disappointed. Why did they change mudak? 😭 It upsets me so much. To fall in love with the character only to see it getting ended and not returning in season 2. 😢
why did they completely removed Mu Deok as a character… as her mother was looking for her long lost daughter and stuff in the first season >< WHAT HAPPENED???????????? NOT WATCHING THIS NO MORE T-T

I’ve been waiting for part 2 to come out and to find out in episode 1 of part 2 that Jung So Min wasn’t on there! Why?? Play me like that 😳.. the chemistry Jung So Min and main actor was Amazing that’s why I wanted to finish this off. Now I have to watch it all over again with another actress who only played little parts in the first season. I won’t be watching it anymore. But all the best to the rest!
Please mudeuk should remain like that and her relationship with hang UK should continue

Why change mudoek we fell for their relationship with her and hangup so meaning that they’ll have to remake everything becouse in a sieries there are always recaps so please don’t change mudoek.
No.please cast jungsomin(mudoek,apparently junbuyeon),.even I don’t want to chang the fact that main lead will change between jungsomin and goyoungjung because janguk will stay as malelead but what about mudoek,janguk fell in love with her in season 1,maybe to naksu,as her soul was shifted to mudeok’s soul but their shipping with each other was the main reason that everyone was fall for.

Naksu body was burnt …so definetely she will a new body for her soul..mu seek can remain as jin bu yen tho…this will be hard for Jang Uk to actually move on based on tthe change if the case maybe….but the characters portrayed their roles well for me,no need for changes but I guess its necessary..here for all the AOS drama
Changing Mu deok again will worsen everything in season 2, so pls 🙏 let just maintain that character. So that the viewers will be happy oh!
Jung so min had played realistic role as Mu-deok and Naksu character more wisely, beautifully, expressive and won millions of viewers hearts. Replacing her is a utter fooliness. Am dam sure, if replaced, Alchemy of souls season 2 will drop the viewers response and ratings. Do not make things hard, kindly stick to original FL roles which gives life to Alchemy of Souls krama.
Nak su as character was brought to life by Jang so mi, so min gave nak su life as a character… so changing her for another FL might not give us what we want..
We really love Mudeoki. S2 will be definitely boring.
Well written with interesting characters. The lead characters have charisma and chemistry and should be maintained. I agree with the majority of comments that want the same actors to continue. Season 2 should be a given.
The main character should not be change it will end up making movie not interesting
I would like Mu deok and naksu to separate. It is clear that mu deok’s soul is still alive. Apparently she is bu yeon who has the ability to trap someone’s powers and thus naksu lost her abilities. Also when uk was in the soul plane about to switch bodies with Jin mu’s servant , mu deok, blind, appeared and hugged him keeping him into his body. That’s why naksu thought that the soul shift had successfully been done. Bring back naksu and keep mu deok like bu yeon it will be very interesting. Though I love this show at the same time I am frustrated with the fact that a strong killer became someone’s puppy-servant, bring naksu back please. At this moment it is like the show is for the progress of uk in magic and mu deok’s progress in cleaning sheets keeping her owner-pupil alive hoping that he will help her find her magic.it is like naksu fades in mu deok’s body with the passage of time. Also I don’t like the “love story” of uk-naksu/mu deok. She needs him and he is the only one she thinks she can trust. He is too jealous of her. In my opinion they have the bond and loyalty of two warriors in the war.that is devotion not love. I really support naksu yul love story as I prefer the deep love over the bold one. I admire how humble yul is. He has feeling for naksu and knows who she is, he has strong morality but he protects her secretly even though it is “illegal”, he doesn’t make noise he is a silent strength. It makes me sad that he is probably gonna die for naksu or yuk will take the credits and her eventually.I also believe that yuk fell for mu deok not naksu. And naksu wanted yul and mu deok wants yuk.
Jung So-min has to stay in the show. She created Mu-deok perfectly. Any replacement will not fit the bill and the show will lose its audience, for sure, like yours truly.
It’s insanity to let So-min go. Make it work for her to stay, at all costs. We all can wait for her to work this out. Stop the production without her. Or just cancel the next season without her.
I would love it if the cast will stay the same and if not, I literally won’t watch it anymore to be exact.
Replacing Jung So Min is a very bad idea. She is the soul of the series.

I absolutely love this K- drama the actors are funny, exciting, and entertaining. Please don’t change the female lead, Mudeok. The cast has a great flow going Uk and Mudeok have wonderful chemistry together, I can hardly wait until the next episode. The entire cast work so well together they are fantastic and need to receive an award. Thanks💕💕
It will be much better not to change characters. I have watch kdrama that change cast in season and for my personal opinion it is not so exciting and I end up not finishing the stories coz I got confused. So, I hope all the characters/cast will stay the same. Thanks, much love ,,,

Love Murdeok’s character well suited ans hate the thought that some else will be replacing her in season 2. Yikes! She is adorable and passionate in her role. Her expression is priceless when she told UK her love for him.
I have gotten attached to the original characters especially Maerdok. It will not be the same with another actress. So will enjoy this version while it lasts. I think that some dramas become victims of their own success. As much as I enjoyed CLOY, once was enough.
No no no , you can’t change the main actresses. Don’t change Mu Deok , She’s so so perfect for her role. It will be hard if you change My Deok.
To me mu deok looks like the jin’s family lost daughter
Please leave the original cast especially the two main cast, don’t take out Jung So Min, she acts her role perfectly.

His master Naksu?
Or to his servant Mu deok? a.k.a Jin Bu Yeon?
Please have a way to put naksu back to her original body and have her powers back and sword
If Jung So Min is not in season 2 then no ill deffently wound watch it , it started with her and so it should end with her. It’s better to end season 1 with a good ending in that way there does not need to be a season 2
Yes, yes, and YES! Love this show. Hope you don’t change lead actresses. Would be hard to adjust to new Mu-deok, as this actress is terrific and appears to have great chemistry with leading man!

Yes for a Season 2 please!!! Most exciting drama I’ve watched in a while. Captivate you from beginning to date. Hilarious and exciting all in one! I just love all the characters (most importantly the main characters of course as they have you in stitches one moment and makes you swoon the next) only negative is that its weekly when you just want to watch and watch:) There’s definitely a potential for a 2nd series if not more..
We international fans are hooked waiting for the next episode…
