Renewed or Cancelled?
After watching the first five seasons, you must be wondering if the show has made it to a sixth. After all, with the kind of numbers the show has done on Paramount+, it should ideally be renewed, right? Here is what we know about a renewal:
What is Yellowstone Season 5 about?
Power has a price. And The Dutton’s are going to find that out in season 5. John Dutton is sworn in as Governor of Montana, fires everyone and appoints Beth as Chief of Staff. The Dutton’s are not looking to take their feet off the gas anytime soon!
As John settles into the powers of his new office, he does everything he can to protect Yellowstone from his opponents. That’s easier said than done though, as John’s enemies are growing ever-more cunning…
Has Yellowstone been renewed for season 6?
At the time of writing, Yellowstone has not been renewed for season 6. Generally Paramount would gauge numerous metrics before renewing a show, including how many people initially watch it and then looking at the drop-off rate.
With some shows, cancellations or renewals happen quickly. Other times, it can take months before a decision over a show’s future is made. When it comes to Yellowstone however, we knew about this one ahead of time that season 6 would be the show’s final rodeo.
However, we do know that there’s another Yellowstone spin-off in the works, according to THIS report from Deadline.
Given the ending we receive, it’s extremely unlikely that this decision will be reversed and the show will be renewed. However, it’s certainly not the end of the Yellowstone story.
What we know about Season 6 so far:
Barely anything is known about Yellowstone season 6 at this point given the show won’t be returning. However, that aforementioned spin-off, not to mention the various prequels like 1923 and 1883, certainly help to stop the sting a bit given how expansive this universe has now become.
We will update this page when more information becomes available, but for now, it seems to be the end of the road for the mainline Yellowstone series.
