Has Wolf been renewed for Season 2? Here’s what we know:

Renewed Or Cancelled?

Wolf is the latest BBC drama, exuding out an air of psychological thrills, as we’re graced with a slickly written crime thriller, armed with plenty of twists and turns all the way to the shocking conclusion.

If you’ve finished watching this one, you may be wondering if this has been renewed or cancelled. Here’s what we know so far:

What is Wolf Season 1 about?

Split across 6 episodes, Wolf is based on the Mo Hayder novels, blending a cold case with a sinister parallel tale. At the heart of this is DI Jack Caffery, a young man obsessed with a neighbour, Ivan Penderecki. He’s convinced that Ivan murdered his 10-year-old brother in the 90’s.

Running parallel to this is a story involving something called “the Donkey Pitch murders” and an isolated house in Monmouthshire, holding the wealthy Anchor-Ferrers family who find themselves the victims of a psychopath’s cruel games, trapped and terrorised. When the two narratives collide, a deeply disturbing race against time ensues. And right at the heart of this are DI Honey and DS Molina, who are on the scene and intent on solving the case.

Has Wolf been renewed for season 2?

At the time of writing, BBC have not renewed Wolf for a second season. Given the nature of this series, that could change if it does good numbers and gets enough traction – which so far it has.

Generally the BBC, like other networks, gauge numerous metrics before renewing a show, including how many people initially watch it and then looking at the drop-off rate. With some shows, cancellations or renewals happen quickly. Other times, it can take months before a final decision is made over a show’s future.

So far, Wolf has had a very positive reaction from audiences and critics alike, with the series doing an excellent job of sucking you in and making for compulsive viewing.

The story has potential to expand out though, especially if we get more adaptations from Mo Hayder’s books. However, it’s likely to be more of a one-and-done deal with Wolf, especially as the story is pretty much wrapped up by the end, minus that revelation involving Jack and his brother.

With all that in mind, we predict that BBC will not renew Wolf for a follow-up season. We do, however, predict that there will be other crime thrillers adapting more of Hayder’s work going forward.

We’ll be sure to update this section with accurate details over the coming weeks and months when we know more!

What we know about season 2 so far:

Nothing is known about season 2, given this one has not officially been renewed yet. Should the BBC decide to greenlight this one, it’s fair to assume that we’ll get a continuation of Jack’s search for his brother. It’s likely though that this will remain as a one-season deal.

It’s likely that BBC will make an official announcement several months from now though, once the final viewing figures are in, but for now we’ll have to wait and see. We’ll be sure to update this section with more information as it becomes available.
