Villainess Level 99 is a 13 episode anime that’s recently aired on Crunchyroll and if you’ve finished watching this one, you may be wondering if this has been renewed or cancelled. Here’s what we know so far:
What is Villainess Level 99 about?
Villainess Level 99 revolves around a college kid called Yumiella Dolkness. All she wants is a quiet life but unfortunately, when she’s reborn as the hidden villainess of an Otome RPG, that adream is out the window!
Yumiella decides to level grind to survive, spending her entire childhood to do so. Unfortunately, she’s overachieved and given level 10 is the highest expected from students, she ends up maxing out at Level 99, causing unnecessary attention and deviation from the game script. Now, everyone suspects that she’s the infamous Demon Lord. As one may expect, chaos ensues!
Has Villainess Level 99 been renewed for Season 2?
At the time of writing, Villainess has not been renewed for a second season. Given the nature of this series, that could change if there is some positivity from the viewers and encouragement from the creators and the audience.
Generally, anime studios, like other cable networks and streamers, gauges numerous metrics before renewing a show, including how many people initially watch it and then looking at the drop-off rate. With some shows, cancellations or renewals happen quickly (ala. Squid Game, Bridgerton etc.) Other times, it can take months before streamers decide a show’s future.
Villainess Level 99 has had a pretty decent response from fans, although it is worth mentioning that its reaction has been somewhat lukewarm compared to the rest of the anime line-up.
Given how the first season ends, a follow-up may be on the cards but we’ll be sure to update this section with accurate details over the coming weeks and months when we know more!
What do we know about Season 2 so far:
Not much is known about season 2 at the time of writing, given this has not officially renewed this one yet. Should the streamers decide to greenlight a second season, it’s fair to assume that we will pick up in the aftermath of the events of the finale, with more of the source material adapted.
Jumondo will likely make an official announcement several months from now, once the final viewing figures are in. Fans will be eagerly watching for any new announcements, which we anticipate should come in 2024. We’ll be sure to update this section with more information as it becomes available.
