With shocking revelations and plot twists, the season finale is bound to have viewers on the edge of their seats.

What is The Tyrant Season 1 about?
The K-drama begins in medias res as a faction of the NIS is caught running the unauthorized The Tyrant Program. The program is forced to shut down and all of the files are to be transferred to the NIS for investigation. In the middle of the chaos, the uncontrollable virus goes missing with different agents rushing to get their hands on it for their personal gains.
Cha Seung-won plays Lim Sang, a retired agent turned mercenary who Director Choi hires to get rid of all evidence including witnesses related to The Tyrant Program. Kim Seon-ho is Director Choi who runs the program while Kim Kang-woo is Paul, a foreign agent, trying to get rid of the virus. Jo Yoon-soo plays Ja-gyeong, the mysterious safe-cracker who gets roped into the hunt for the last sample.

Has The Tyrant Been Renewed for Season 2?
At the time of writing, The Tyrant has not been renewed for season 2.
While the K-drama industry is changing its format, we are yet to see multiple season shows. Sure, dramas like Strong Girl Nam-soon, Doctor Romantic and Taxi Driver 2 appear to be an exception thanks to their roaring success. But it is unlikely that we will get The Tyrant season 2 at the moment, especially since Disney+ K-drama sequels are pretty rare.
But not all hope is lost! The K-drama is set in The Witch universe which has 2 movies while The Tyrant is a spin-off. And both the show and the second movie have epilogues which leaves room for another sequel if needed.
What do we know about The Tyrant Season 2?
Not much is known about The Tyrant Season 2 at the moment given that it has not been greenlit. If we do get a sequel it can be in terms of a third movie or a season 2. At the end of The Witch Part 2, the twins’ mother is shown while the superhuman agents team up to catch the twins.
As for The Tyrant’s end, it shows that Director Sa is a double agent and is still searching for the missing sample, Lim is alive and Ja-gyeong is very likely a superhuman like the twins from The Witch. All of these elements can be easily used to set up a sequel.
If the K-drama does return, you can expect a season with approximately 4 episodes, each lasting around 50 minutes. However, nothing is confirmed yet, but we’ll be sure to update this page as soon as any new information comes in.
