Renewed Or Cancelled?
The Queen Who Crowns is an intriguing historical K-drama, mixing romance and thriller vibes together into a heady, enticing cocktail. If you’ve been following this one, you may be wondering if this has been renewed or cancelled. Here’s what we know:
What is The Queen Who Crowns about?
The Queen Who Crowns centers on Won-gyeong, a daughter of the prestigious Min family. Intelligent and ambitious, she marries Yi Bang-won, the fifth son of King Tae-jo, who aspires to ascend the throne.
However, his father designates his second son as the next king instead, spurring Won-gyeong and Bang Won to make alternate plans. She successfully becomes a “King Maker” by helping Bang-won become the third King of Joseon, establishing a new regime together.
That’s only the start of their journey though, as Bang-won betrays everyone he holds dear. Will Won-gyeong stay by his side and continue to try and change Korea’s fate?

Has The Queen Who Crowns been renewed for season 2?
At the time of writing, tvN have not renewed The Queen Who Crowns for season 2. Given the ratings over the weeks, it’ll be interesting to see if they actually do renew this for a follow-up.
The ratings began with a decent 4.9% share nationwide but since then, the show has been increasing in popularity with every passing week, with the later episodes hovering around 5% nationwide.
Regardless of ratings, it’s extremely rare to find Korean dramas renewed for another season. That has changed in recent years but given the sheer wealth of talent in this that are sure to move onto other projects, we predict that The Queen Who Crowns will not be renewed for a second season.
We’ll be sure to update this section with more details as they become available.
What we know about season 2 so far:
Barely anything is known about season 2 right now. Given most Korean dramas are reserved to one season, it’s rare to find these sort of shows renewed. With the rare exception of ongoing Netflix shows (Love ft. Marriage and Divorce, Hospital Playlist etc.) then it seems unlikely that this one will be renewed.
Having said that though, we have seen Taxi Driver and Tale of the Nine Tailed renewed recently, alongside Alchemy of Souls too. Given how steady the ratings are for this series, could we see this one buck the trend? It seems very unlikely that The Queen Who Crowns will, but you never know! We’ll be sure to update this section when we know more.
