Renewed Or Cancelled?
The Power is the latest superhero series on Amazon, rounding out the collection of projects on the platform, which similarly sees The Boys and Invincible there too, both of which having been renewed for multiple seasons. The Power though centers on empowering female characters, with plenty of drama and action to boot.
If you’ve finished watching this one, you may be wondering if this has been renewed or cancelled. Here’s what we know so far:
What is The Power Season 1 about?
Based on the novel by Naomi Alderman, The Power is a Prime Video original series that explores a global shift across gendered power dynamics.
The sci-fi drama series follows the lives of several characters ensuing worldwide events in which teen girls start to develop new electrical abilities. Jos Cleary-Lopez (Auliʻi Cravalho) is overwhelmed by her new power, while her mother Margot (Toni Collette) tries to be a strong leader for Seattle as the city’s mayor.
In Nigeria, Tunde (Toheeb Jimoh) takes advantage of recent events to kickstart his career as a journalist, while Roxy Monke (Ria Zmitrowicz) in London tries to insert herself into her father’s criminal organization. And then there’s Allie (Halle Bush): a lonely girl with a strange voice in her head telling her she will do great things.

Has The Power been renewed for season 2?
At the time of writing, Amazon have not renewed The Power for a second season. Given the nature of this series, that could change if it does good numbers for Amazon.
Generally Amazon, like other streamers, gauge numerous metrics before renewing a show, including how many people initially watch it and then looking at the drop-off rate. With some shows, cancellations or renewals happen quickly (ala. Squid Game, Bridgerton & Irregulars) Other times, it can take months before Amazon make a decision over a show’s future.
So far, The Power has had a pretty favorable reaction from audiences and critics alike, with the series easy to watch and binge through.
With all that considered, we predict that Amazon will renew The Power for a follow-up. It makes sense right? Even if all the source material has been used up, superhero series tend to fare really well with the powers that be over at Prime Video and this one may well follow suit.

What we know about season 2 so far:
Not much is known about season 2 at the time of writing, given Amazon have not renewed this one yet. However, there’s a lot of enthusiasm from the cast and crew to do more, and in this revealing interview with Digital Spy, Toni Collette and John Leguizamo are both up for doing more. Given how many shows Amazon have recently renewed, it makes sense that The Power will follow suit.
Despite Amazon’s shaky track record this year for renewals, we’re predicting that this will be green-lit for another season.
It’s likely that Amazon will make an official announcement several months from now about the future of this show, but for now we’ll have to wait and see. We’ll be sure to update this section with more information as it becomes available.

I would definitely like to see a 2nd series of The Power. Great show
