The Manny is a Mexican comedy/drama, with a compelling group of characters and an intriguing tone throughout. Across both seasons, this one’s been an enjoyable ride and it certainly has a lot to like.

If you’ve finished watching this one, you may be wondering if this has been renewed or cancelled. Here’s what we know:

What is The Manny about?

Jimena is determined to take over her father’s company as the new president, but she has to contend for the position with her cousin Rogelio. Her father and cousin look down on her since she is a woman, separated from her husband, and they think she is not good enough.

She, therefore, has to hire a nanny to look after her three children, Sofia, Santiago, and Leo, and concentrate on her work at the Lemus agency. However, her children are unruly, and the nannies quit as soon as they are hired since they cannot take the pressure. That is when Gabriel, a cowboy-turned-nanny with a hidden agenda, appears. He immediately takes control of the situation at her house, which amazes Jimena, and the children immediately like him. Jimena decides to hire Gabriel as the new manny. 

Season 2 then continues that story, with Gabriel and Jimena growing closer and engaging in a will they/won’t they romance, with the usual bouts of misunderstandings and love triangles thrown in for good measure!

Has The Manny been renewed for season 3?

At the time of writing, The Manny has not been renewed for season 3. Generally Netflix would gauge numerous metrics before renewing a show, including how many people initially watch it and then looking at the drop-off rate.

With some shows, cancellations or renewals happen quickly. Other times, it can take months before a decision over a show’s future is made. So far, The Manny has had a pretty muted reaction online from critics and audiences alike, with most of the chatter reserved to the cliched story and the romance.

Given the way this show is set up, and the ending we receive, we’re predicting that this will not be renewed for a third season. While Mexican shows do tend to fare better with the cancellation roulette on Netflix, there’s only a small audience for this one and it seems unlikely that Netflix would press on with this.

However, we could be completely wrong too, so do take that prediction with a pinch of salt!

What we know about season 2 so far:

Barely anything is known about The Manny season 2 at this point. The ending does leave the door open for more to be fair, and the way this story is set up, it could go for multiple seasons. However, that does seem rather unlikely given the limited audience this one is likely to have. Either way, we’ll be sure to update this page when more information becomes available.

  3. I loved the manny show! I binged watched season 1 and season 2 in 2 days. The show is comforting, and the storyline is interesting. It’s kinda funny because It made me think about “The Nanny” show, however because it’s in Spanish it’s so interesting and dramatic but not too dramatic. I hope there is a season 3! As the way it ended left me on a cliff hanger!

  6. I LOVED this show so much that I binge watched the entire second season in one day. I don’t think Netflix should believe it has only a limited audience. I am not Mexican and don’t speak Spanish and am really hoping it will return for a third season. Don’t leave its fans hanging!

  7. I was excited to see that they had a season 2 even though it was different than I thought it would be.
    But I like this show and would love to see a season 3 and for it to continue. Hopefully they stay together this time.
    And why would she be going to jail what is happening. Don’t leave us hanging. And seriously we need more episodes in the season.
    I just watched the season in 1 sitting.

  8. I love this show! It’s not as unrealistically dramatic as many others and has a great storyline. I wish the episodes were longer and I binged season two in a day!

  9. Yes, it definitely needs a season 3. We need to know whether Jimena goes to jail; how they get the money back from Arturo AND we need the big wedding.
    OK it’s cheesy but they’re nice characters whom one identifies with.

  11. Absolutely! It’s far better than other things thrown out, based on the very likable characters. It also needs to fully close out the story, for example the cops searching Jimena’s office and her being warned they will arrest her……

  14. Greenlight Season 3
    I rewatched Season 1 yesterday, 12/28, and just finished Season 2 tonight 12/29.
    The show is funny, a bit cheesy but overall entertaining. The ending definitely needs a resolution, and while I think The Manny could go on for a few more seasons, I think one more season would work, maybe an extended 12-14 episode season to tie up loose ends and bring closure the family.

  15. I really enjoy this show. I put it on thinking I might not like it and I was so hooked on it that I watched it in four days. We need season three back. I want to know if Jimena goes to jail and they really should be a wedding ceremony towards the end

  20. Yes on season 3. I enjoy seeing kids that respect each other and their parents (even though they still act the kids). The dubbing is not great, I would rather watch in original language with sub titles.

  32. I can’t wait for season 3! There are many unanswered questions. Are investors going to recover their money? Is Jimena going to Jail? What is going to happen with the projects? Who is the powerful investor? Is he behind the police taking over the office? Is Perla going to invest just to support Jimena or she is behind something else? Is Jimena’s cousin going to jail?

  41. I have enjoyed The Manny so much! The two main characters look so good together and during this 2nd season I was so happy that Gabriel and Jamina got back together! They play such decent people trying to make a difference in the world. I hope we get to see season 3 where the bad guy thief escapes and the Lemas family and Gabriel ‘s associates help the authorities catch him in a comedic way once more sending him to prison!!!
