Summary
The Madness is the latest Netflix mystery thriller, spinning a conspiracy around our protagonist, a political pundit, forced to try and clear his name. Across the 8 episodes, this one’s definitely a compelling watch.
If you’ve finished watching this one, you may be wondering if this has been renewed or cancelled. Here’s what we know:
What is The Madness about?
The Madness centers on a media pundit Muncie Daniels who works for CNN, finding himself fighting for his innocence after he stumbles upon a murder deep in the Poconos. What ensues from here is a massive conspiracy and thriller, as Muncie finds connections to local gangs, extremist groups and even a big global conspiracy too!
We have extensive coverage of The Madness across the site, including recaps for every episode, which you can check out HERE!
Has The Madness been renewed for season 2?
At the time of writing, The Madness has not been renewed for season 2. Generally Netflix would gauge numerous metrics before renewing a show, including how many people initially watch it and then looking at the drop-off rate.
With some shows, cancellations or renewals happen quickly. Other times, it can take months before a decision over a show’s future is made. So far, The Madness has had a really good reaction online from critics and audiences alike, with many pointing out at how faithful the adaptation is.
Given the way this show is set up, and the ending we receive, we’re predicting that this will not be renewed for a second season. The ending does leave the door open for more but given Netflix have advertised this as a Limited Series, the idea of this coming back for more does feel like a bit of a stretch. Plus Netflix are pretty trigger-happy with their cancellations too, which doesn’t help!
However, we could be completely wrong too, although that does seem very unlikely in this case.
What we know about season 2 so far:
Barely anything is known about The Madness season 2 at this point. The ending does open the door up for a potential follow-up to the drama though. Kraintz’s death doesn’t really resolve the wider conspiracy at the heart of this, nor does it completely exonerate Muncie. He’s seen a lot, and if the paranoia at the end is anything to go by, he’s going to be mentally affected by all this for a while yet.
We could also see Lucie’s past come back to bite her, as the Forge go after her, or we could even see another, bigger conspiracy too.
However, we’ll be sure to update this page when more information becomes available.
