Hulu’s The Full Monty is a heartening homage to the 1997 film of the same name. All the cast members from the original reprise their roles, albeit in a much different shape and characterization. Simon Beaufoy, who was the creative mind behind the film, returns as the showrunner and brings the humour and likeability that made the movie such a big hit.

What is The Full Monty about?
The Full Monty deploys a bits-and-pieces narrative where each of our main characters gets an episode of their own storyline. Gaz, Dave, Lomper, Jean, and Horse form the entirety of the old gang, while the new additions include Destiny, Gaz’s teenage daughter, and Hetty, a music teacher at the Sheffield Academy and Jean’s best friend. A variety of issues are explored through the characters and how they deal with the realities of an evolving world.
Don’t expect too many plot twists or jarring tonal changes as the storytelling in The Full Monty is pretty much straightforward. Beaufoy and the writers stick to a conventional story structure and do not resort to creative antics.

Has The Full Monty been renewed for season 2?
Hulu has not renewed The Full Monty for a second season. The decision is not based on the ratings and reception of the show – which were really positive – but the fact that it was conceived as a limited series for a single season only.
Generally, cable networks and other streamers gauge numerous metrics before renewing a show, including how many people initially watch it and then looking at the drop-off rate. With some shows, cancellations or renewals happen quickly (ala. Squid Game, Bridgerton & Shantaram) Other times, it can take months before a decision over a show’s future is made.
The Full Monty scored exceptionally well in terms of viewership counts and critical reception. If the story was conceived with a recurring and continuous plot, there would be no doubts about The Full Monty getting another season. But as it’s a limited series and as the cast has not indicated the possibility of a season 2, you shouldn’t expect their stories to continue.

I miss these guys already. It was so good to see them again..all together. The Jean and Dave storyline made me cry and so did the the fact that Horse passed away. Very organically told. I love to see a second season.

Heartwarming with social issues as the basis but keeping all the charm of the original. New characters fitted in perfectly. Please, please write a second series. I need to know what happens next – to all of them!!

We loved this series and would absolutely love at least another season if not more. Brilliant acting, character dynamics, humor, drama… there was enough open ended characters to go on and on… what happens to Guy’s fiancé and the baby, the building of Darren’s relationship, Des’s future with her father and her music? I could go on and on!! So could the writers, I’m sure!! Keep it going… if you write it, they will watch !!!
PLEASE !!! Bring it back for another season. We loved every minute of it.

Not only does it give humour , brilliant acting & emotion it also highlights that in today’s society that the homeless , the mental health & the poverty that is all very much overlooked & brushed aside .

It’s a huge financial mistake for Hulu not to bring it it back for at least a few more years. The writers are brilliant and I’m sure they would keep it fresh. I never take the time to write comments like this but it’s. The. Best series. I ve seen in. Years. I predict it will have a cult following some day.
I thoroughly enjoyed the first season brilliant very disappointed there won’t be a series two. Every time I watched on episode when it finished I had to watch the next.
Absolutely astounding performances and true to life characters. This should not be e a limited series it has so much more to offer. Loved the movie and the TV series offers so much more depth into the lives of the working class from the younger generation to the older generation.
Please please please……just finished watching episode eight and really did not want it to finish……Six and a half hours of pure gold……everyone seems to churn out high stakes drama these days and character led, gentle drama comedy seems to have all but vanished. Another series would make my 2025!

I was nervous for the TV show as huge fan of the movie and original cast. I’m not normally one to favour sequels and reboots. I normally prefer new content and ideas over a rehash. That being said, the nerves were misplaced as this revisit was excellent. Faithful storytelling and filled with heart, humour and drama. If another series did come about and the story was as good I’d be very happy to watch more of these characters antics.
Let’s have more the old a d new characters have more stories.

I thought the series was fabulous it had a bit of everything sadness humour and downright silliness which was what made it into such a good series to watch.It will be a terrible shame to not renew it for another series.Well done to all the actors you were fantastic to watch

I must say I’ve never seen the original movie of The Full Monty but I thoroughly loved the series. I will definitely watch the movie and unabashedly demand a second season of the show! I will be lost without it!

I was really excited to view the series. I love the initial movie and the characters there, and wanted to see more about them. The series was a way to spend more time with each character and get to know them and watch them develop. It was equally interesting to bring in the children of the original stripping crew, and to watch them with their hardscrabble lives. Continue to live and thrive.
I totally enjoyed the series and saw lots of opportunities for the story to continue in another season and would love to see that happen. What happens to Des? Does she get into met music school? What happens to her friend? Do they have a lesbian affair. What happens with his her father? Does he thrive since he was kind of going downhill and gave up his home for his grand child wheelchair. What happens to each of the characters as they all are in some degree of suffering with things that have been in relationships when they age, in financial situations, dealing with community and the new people moving in. Dealing with things like new people coming into the country, there’s so many things that you guys brought up in the first season that could be followed up on. Such a great script for season one. I hope you keep writing for this show.
I for one think this has been one of the most endearing shows that has moved forward with the original cast .the plots were
so realistically funny and most of the time felt totally unscripted .
I dare any one to watch and not say that’s just like someone down our way .

Oh my god! I LOVED the film and would often watch it now and again as one of my favs! Was absolutely mind blown when I saw the series in Disney! Please please please make it longer! Was great just watching them all busy in their own lives but all best of friends! Would love to watch this season after season!
