The Frog is the latest K-drama on Netflix, combining elements of mystery, thriller and drama together into one heady blend of influences. If you’ve watched the first season and want to know if there will be a second, this article has all the details you’re looking for.
Here’s everything we know:
What is The Frog Season 1 about?
The Frog centers on three characters, and is split across two timelines. In the present, Yeong-ha owns a vacation rental cabin but finds his world turned upside down when a strange woman called Sung-a shows up. She does so with her son, Si-hyeon, and the pair stay for the night. However, when she leaves, mystery surrounds her and it soon becomes clear, all is not what it seems.
In the past, we have a separate timeline in 2001, following another motel owner, Sung-jae. He finds his world shattered when he unknowingly lets a rather unsavoury character stay for the night.
Tying both these timelines together is police detective Bo-min, who sets out to solve a case that spans back decades.
We have ongoing coverage of The Frog on the site, including recaps for all episodes. You can find those HERE!
Has The Frog Been Renewed for Season 2?
At the time of writing, Netflix hasn’t renewed The Frog for a Season 2.
With some shows, cancellations or renewals happen quickly. Other times, it can take months before a decision over a show’s future is made.
So far, The Frog has had a pretty good reaction from critics and audiences alike, with many enjoying the story and the pacing.
Given the way this show is set up, we’re predicting that this will not be renewed for a second season. The series has plenty of potential but the ending pretty much wraps everything up, despite a rather ambiguous conclusion.
What do we know about The Frog Season 2?
Not much is known about The Frog Season 2 at the moment given that it has not been greenlit. The show ends with Yeong-ha selling up the Motel, everything pretty much resolved and Bo-min dropping the case. The only point of contention here is what happened to Si-hyeon but it seems quite clear-cut that he’s been killed and Sung-a has buried him somewhere, perhaps in the vegetable garden outside, or even in the laundrette, explaining why she burned all those clothes.
This is the only avenue of exploration should the show be renewed. If it does return, you can expect a season with approximately 8 episodes, each lasting around 55 minutes.
However, nothing is confirmed yet, but we’ll be sure to update this page as soon as any new information comes in.
