Renewed Or Cancelled?
Kuwait’s very first venture into the streaming universe was a happening affair. The Exchange gave an immensely encouraging footprint of creative specials from Kuwait in the future.
Netflix hosted the six-part series that was set in the 80’s and revolved around contemporarily relevant themes of feminism and recalled how the workforce expansion spilt over into the other gender. Rawan Mehdi and Mona Hussain play the two central women, Farida and Munira, who make history by starting as clerks at the Kuwaiti Stock Exchange.
The most impressive part about the series comes from strong representation of the local culture and the bold themes. Everything that made the women unique in the workplace – their makeup, dresses, and intellect – were all kept intact. There were hardly any compromises in the story, while the exposition became its underbelly.
Having finished season 1 of The Exchange, you must be wondering if the show has been renewed for a second season. Here is what we know about its renewal/cancellation status.
What is The Exchange Season 1 about?
Munira and Fardia are cousins. The latter has been recently divorced and has gone back to live with her parents and teen daughter Jude. Out of income and any options, she has to take out Jude from the private school and send her to a public school.
Munira works at the stock exchange as a clerk, though has great ambitions. Amir, the husband of Farida’s friend Yara, presents an opportunity for Farida to join his team when she proves her worth with an assignment. Farida has a quick wit and is brilliant in the subject of mathematics.
The two women make their own place at the stock exchange much to the chagrin and disapproving looks of the men. They compete with each other at times but also stand up for themselves and female representation in the workplace. Saud, the portfolio manager for Amir, takes a liking to Munira’s personality and capability and makes the women an integral part of the team.

Has The Exchange been renewed for season 2?
Netflix has neither confirmed nor denied any reports for The Exchange’s season 2. In our reckoning, it seems highly unlikely that the show will be renewed. Season 1 was a complete story in itself and does not need a continuation forward.
All the character arcs were mostly satisfied and the central themes too had enough participation. Even the season finale did not end on a cliffhanger, thus diminishing any chances for renewal.
What we know about season 2 so far:
Barely anything is known about season 2 at this point, given Netflix has not green-lit a sequel. Not a lot of time has passed since the release of the show but do not be hopeful.
As mentioned above, we predict that this will not be renewed but we’ll have to wait and see what happens. We’ll be sure to update this page in the future when more information is known though!
