The Clearing received mainly positive reviews after its premiere. The content, performances, and creation of mystery were all lauded.

What is The Clearing about?

An abduction during the opening of The Clearing Season 1 introduces us to The Kindred, a cult. The children who greet their new sister are part of the well-behaved cult that sport blond bob haircuts. Matriarch, the cult’s “Mother,” controls them and cultivates in them a fear comparable to that of God.

One of the young girls that The Kindred abducted, Freya, takes center stage in the narrative of the show. After being the victim of an abduction in her hometown that left her with PTSD, she recalls her experiences with The Kindred.

Given that the cult focuses primarily on manipulating as well as brainwashing kids, the series becomes particularly terrifying and unsettling. The notion that the human psyche is capable of such manipulation is quite fascinating given that it makes us afraid, and if there’s anything that viewers enjoy, it is feeling danger from a distance. The Clearing does an excellent job of steering us through this frightening scenario.

Has The Clearing been renewed for season 2?

At the time of writing, Hulu has not yet renewed The Clearing for a season 2. This is not surprising given that the show has only recently been released on the streaming platform.

While renewing a series, Hulu is most likely to evaluate a variety of factors, such as how many people initially watch it along with the drop-off rates. It could take several months for execs to decide whether or not to renew a show. In fact, the majority of sources claim that it has been created as a miniseries.

The book ‘In the Clearing,’ by JP Pomare, which offers a fictionalized account of the actual Australian cult The Family, serves as source material for the show. The likelihood of a second season has dropped because the show is based on an actual cult. The finale of the show wraps all the loose ends, so there’s nothing else to reveal. Additionally, the actors have also hinted that the Australian thriller is a miniseries in a number of interviews.

In light of everything, we believe that The Clearing won’t receive a second-season renewal.

What we know about season 2 so far:

Since Hulu and Disney have not yet approved a season 2, not much is known. Freya and Wayne are reunited with their kids as the final episode comes to a close.
