Renewed Or Cancelled?
Shrinking is the latest comedy drama on Apple, with 12 episodes blending dark drama with quirky comedy. So after watching it in its entirety, you may be wondering if this has been renewed or cancelled. Here’s what we know:
What is Shrinking about?
From creators Jason Segel, Brett Goldstein, and Bill Lawrence, Shrinking is an Apple TV+ Original comedy-drama series.
It follows Segel as therapist Jimmy, who struggles to be a good dad to his teenage daughter Alice (Lukita Maxwell) and help clients like Sean (Luke Tennie)–although grief over the recent loss of his wife has not made him very good at either.
Though he has support from his neighbor Liz (Christa Miller), best friend Brian (Michael Urie), and colleagues Paul (Harrison Ford) and Gaby (Jessica Williams), Jimmy barely manages to stay afloat these days. One day, he takes his frustrations out on a client. But when his outburst ultimately turns out for the best, Jimmy has to wonder. What if he started forcing his clients to do what’s best for them?

Has Shrinking been renewed for season 3?
At the time of writing, Shrinking has been renewed for season 3. Generally Apple would gauge numerous metrics before renewing a show, including how many people initially watch it and then looking at the drop-off rate.
With some shows, cancellations or renewals happen quickly. Other times, it can take months before a decision over a show’s future is made.
Shrinking has had a really good reaction from critics and audiences alike, with many commenting (including ourselves) that the comedy and drama are really solid throughout.
Given the way this show is set up, it’s not much of a surprise to see Apple give this one the green-light. The streamers have a great track record for renewing their IPs, and so it’s hardly surprising to see this one get the thumbs up.
What we know about season 3 so far:
Barely anything is known about season 3 at this point as Apple have only just renewed this one. Will we see a return of the same characters? A continuation of the same tale again or something brand new?
We’d expect it to be green-lit with another 12 episode order, and a lot of the old cast return too. Season 3 is reportedly set to start filming in January 2025, so e could see a turn-around time quite quickly of it releasing the end of next year. However, we can all be happy in the knowledge that this one is definitely being renewed!
