There’s a reason why Queen of Tears has become one of the highest rated K-dramas of all time. The story is well written, the characters endearing, and the entire drama has managed to capture the essence of just why Korean TV is unrivalled in the entertainment sphere.
If you’ve finished this one, you may be wondering if it’s been renewed. Here’s what we know:
What is Queen Of Tears about?
“Wedding of the century” or “war of the century”? Such is the question that Queen of Tears poses. Armed with hallyu stars Kim Soo Hyun of It’s Okay to Not Be Okay fame, and Kim Ji-won of Arthdal Chronicles fame, the show is a roller-coaster ride of broken promises and fading marital bliss.
The tug of war between a rural upstart and his industrial princess wife lead to much misery and tears on part of Hyun-woo who eventually files for divorce. The rest of the show follows their journey as they reclaim the love they once had for each other.
Has Queen Of Tears been renewed for season 2?
At the time of writing, Queen Of Tears has not been renewed for season 2. Generally Netflix and tvN would gauge numerous metrics before renewing a show, including how many people initially watch it and then looking at the drop-off rate.
With some shows, cancellations or renewals happen quickly. Other times, it can take months before a decision over a show’s future is made. So far, Queen Of Tears has smashed records, becoming one of the highest rated K-dramas of all time. It’s also had an amazing reaction from critics and audiences alike, with many loving the drama and the way the story has played out.
However, given the way this show is set up, we’re predicting that this will not be renewed for a second season. The series does have plenty of potential but most K-dramas are reserved to a single season without a continuation. A lot of the cast are likely to move onto different projects too, which will contribute toward that decision.

What we know about season 2 so far:
Barely anything is known about season 2 at this point as Netflix and tvN haven’t officially renewed this one. Should it be renewed, we’d imagine that there will be more story to take place after the 2 special episodes, potentially with a timejump and even new characters. However, this is very unlikely to take place in the grand scheme of things.
