What is PI Meena about?

PI Meena is a crime investigation drama based on the mysterious virus outbreak in the eastern part of India.

The show focuses on Meenakshi Iyer aka Meena and her investigation of a young person’s death which leads to unraveling a much larger conspiracy at play. As she navigates her way through the murky past and faces her own demons, she gets closer and closer to risky situations. 

The show also has an ensemble cast of Samir Soni, Jishu Sengupta, Vinay Pathak, Vipin Sharma and Parambrata Chatterjee. Each character plays a pivotal role in taking the story ahead. The chemistry and sync between the cast is great to see.

Has PI Meena been renewed for season 2?

At the time of writing, Sony Liv have not renewed PI Meena for a second season. Given the nature of this series, that could well change in the near future.

Generally Sony Liv, like other streaming platforms, gauge numerous metrics before renewing a show, including how many people initially watch it and then looking at the drop-off rate. With some shows, cancellations or renewals happen quickly. Other times, it can take months before Sony Liv make a decision over a show’s future.

So far, PI Meena has had a mixed reaction from audiences and critics alike, which does pose a question mark for the renewal chances of this one. The completion rate is also likely to be slow with this, given how bouncy it is to watch through. Fingers crossed we find out sooner rather than later on this one.

What we know about PI Meena season 2 so far:

Not much is known about PI Meena season 2 at the time of writing, given Sony Liv have only just dropped the first on the platform. It’s fair to assume that all of our characters will be returning should this be greenlit.

In the finale episode, we see an injured Meena running away from Dr Rathindra Basu’s house after fatally stabbing him in self defence. The consequences of the action are unknown, as the show concludes with Meena’s voiceover saying that the city knows her truth.

However, we’ll have to wait and see what the official word is from Sony LIV on this one first.
