One Hundred Years of Solitude recounts the story of the Buendia family, chronicling the irreconcilable conflict between the desire for solitude and the need for love. At the center of this is wanderer Melquiades, who arrives with a desire to connect this secluded town with the outside world. Across the season, this timeless town of Macondo is explored, with seven generations of the Buendía family navigating love, oblivion and the inescapability of their past and fate.
Has One Hundred Years of Solitude been renewed for season 2?
At the time of writing, One Hundred Years of Solitude has been renewed for season 2. Generally Netflix gauge numerous metrics before renewing a show, including how many people initially watch it and then looking at the drop-off rate.
With some shows, cancellations or renewals happen quickly. Other times, it can take months before a decision over a show’s future is made. So far, One Hundred Years of Solitude has had a really good reaction online from critics and audiences alike, with many pointing out at how faithful the adaptation is.
We do know both seasons were filmed back to back ahead of release, so this renewal isn’t a massive surprise for anyone who has followed entertainment news. That’s perhaps just as well too, because the ending does leave the door open for more. Now it becomes a matter of when rather than if this one releases!
What we know about season 2 so far:
Barely anything is known about One Hundred Years Of Solitude season 2 at this point beyond that it has been renewed. However, we do know there will be another 8 episodes, each at around 60 minutes or so, and will conclude this adaptation of Gabriel García Márquez’s celebrated novel.
Given both seasons were filmed back to back, we may only have to wait a few months for this one to release part 2, and it seems unlikely we’d have to wait any longer than 6 months. At our best estimate, expect season 2 to arrive around February/March 2025.

The novel 100 Years of Solitude is bigger than 8 episodes, so it is natural that there is a second part. In no way the story has run its course! I can’t wait to see it completed.
