Has Obsession been renewed for Season 2? Here’s what we know:

Renewed Or Cancelled?

Obsession is Netflix’s new “Sex/Life”, packaged in a different box.  The mini-series is just four episodes long and stars Richard Armitage and Charlie Murphy as two complicated characters who fall for each other despite their entanglement.

The series has plenty of vibrant and bold adult scenes to depict the “obsession” between the characters. If you’ve been following the show, you may be wondering if this has been renewed or cancelled. Here’s what we know:

What is Obsession Season 1 about?

National sensation Dr William Farrow (Richard Armitage) leads a normal, boring British life with his family. His wife Ingrid and children Sally and Jay convene at Ingrid’s father Edward’s house for the weekend. They celebrate William’s achievements and Edward, who is a successful barrister, wants to introduce him to the parliament in hopes of securing an advisory position.

There is another thing about Jay’s girlfriend, Anna Barton. Jay wants the family to meet her so she decides to show up at the party where William has gone alone. And boy do they “meet” properly.

In just an instant of seeing each other, Anna and William begin a sordid affair. It is purely and bitingly carnal. Anna establishes ground rules for their meetings but as the “obsession” grows, the obedience to the rules declines, leading them on an ominous path of self-destruction.

Has Obsession been renewed for season 2?

At the time of writing, Netflix has not renewed Obsession for season 2. Given the ratings over the weeks, it’ll be interesting to see if they actually do renew this for a follow-up.

Netflix tends to use a variety of different metrics to gauge whether a show is renewed, including completion rate and minutes watched.

Obsession’s category and the nature of its storytelling are quite like Sex/Life that released previously on Netflix. The only difference between the two was the extent of the plot and how expansive it was. The story in Obsession ends in a manner that does not warrant a continuation. Since the series is based on Louis Malle’s Damage (1992) and that film ended in a similar way, we predict that Obsession will not be renewed for a second season.

Moreover, the series is billed as a “limited series” by Netflix, indicating that we will not have another season of Obsession. We’ll be sure to update this section with more details as they become available though.

What we know about season 2 so far:

Barely anything is known about season 2 right now. The makers have not appeared in public to deny or confirm their intentions to continue the story. At the end of season 1, we saw Anna and William go their separate ways. William is now living in Peggy’s apartment, where he and Anna used to meet to “flesh out” their obsessive tendencies. Anna is now taking therapy, as she rightly should, and wonders if she will ever have peace in her life.

As we said before, we do not think Obsession will be renewed for season 2. However, we will be sure to update the page when we get a definitive decision from Netflix.

  1. I would love to see a 2nd season of ‘Obsresion” and to see Anna and William reunite their torrid affair. I felt left behind at the end of Season 1.

  2. Nope! Season 2 is done. William and Anna should never have been together and never should be. Obsession is exactly that, an obsession which should never have happened. To have a Season 2 and make it seem like they deserve to be happy together after destroying people’s lives would be wrong. With that said, the actors were fantastic. The story was creepy, but great. Plus no one would love to see “more” of Richard Armitage than I. I have loved watching him since i found the movie North and South, which I have seen a few 1000 times lol. In my opinion Richard Armitage should be in more period movies, but he can really do no wrong in whatever he does. So, let’s move on yo his next project whatever that may be.

  3. Netflix, I would like to see Obsession return for a second season and more episode. We the subscribe enjoyed watching it. There were many unanswered questions in the last episode. this is why we need Obsession to continue.

  5. I would definitely love to see season 2 Obsession continue so the affair has a chance to become the love story they both felt and deserved

  6. Would love to see a Season 2 of Obsession as there were too many unanswered questions in the
last episode. Need to know if Richard and Anna get cured of their obsession? And I absolutely
    adore Richard Armitage!
