Has Mrs. Davis been renewed for Season 2? Here’s what we know:

Renewed Or Cancelled?

There is a genuine belief amongst viewers that Mrs. Davis might be the catalyst to launch Peacock from relative oblivion into mainstream digital recognition. While the platform has produced some compelling content recently (The Calling and The Resort) it is always seconded by its more illustrious peers. Mrs. Davis is set to change all of that given how the first four episodes of the show have played out.

The surrealist plot of Mrs. Davis is like Everything, Everywhere, All at Once: you don’t understand most of it, you laugh along the way, and at times see a bit of yourself on the screen. Betty Gilpin’s fighting nun against a God-like AI system is a layered tale waiting to unravel.

If you’ve finished watching this one, you may be wondering if this has been renewed or cancelled. Here’s what we know so far:

What is Mrs. Davis Season 1 about?

It is quite difficult to summarize the plot of Mrs. Davis. Sister Simone (Gilpin) had a terrible childhood. Her dysfunctional family never got along that well and she was caught in the cold war between her mother and father. Several years later, an AI system called Mrs. Davis has taken control of people’s minds. By making them forget about their worldly problems, Mrs. D spreads joy and satisfaction among people.

Simone squarely blames Mrs. D for killing her father, Monty. To resolve their issues, Mrs. D offers to send Simone on a life-changing quest: to destroy the Holy Grail. Simone has one wish to be fulfilled if she completes it: that Mrs. D turns herself off. A deal is struck and Simone ventures on an unbelievable, absurdist adventure of heartbreaks, exulting joy, and new information that leaves the viewers scratching their heads.

Has Mrs. Davis been renewed for season 2?

At the time of writing, Peacock has not renewed Mrs. Davis for a second season. Given the nature of this series, that could change if it does good numbers for them.

Generally, Peacock, like other streamers, gauges numerous metrics before renewing a show, including how many people initially watch it and then looking at the drop-off rate. With some shows, cancellations or renewals happen quickly (aka. The Call, The Resort, etc.) Other times, it can take months before Peacock makes a decision over a show’s future.

So far, Mrs. Davis has had a very favourable reaction from audiences and critics alike. It is arguably the most original series in recent memory and comes from creators with pedigree and industry credibility (Damien Lindelof and Tara Hernandez). Mrs. Davis is audacious in its creative ambition and constantly pushed the horizons of storytelling in its maiden season.

We predict that Mrs. Davis will indeed be renewed for a second season and probably more. Lindelof and Hernandez did hint towards their plan of expanding the universe of several seasons in a recent interview and that could very well materialize.

We’ll be sure to update this section with accurate details over the coming weeks and months when we know more!

What we know about season 2 so far:

Not much is known about season 2 at the time of writing, given Peacock has not officially renewed this one yet. It may take them several months to decide on a renewal.

The ongoing WGA strike has also added uncertainty to the near-term future of the filmmaking industry. It’s likely that Peacock will make an official announcement several weeks from now, once the final viewing figures for the entire season are in, but for now, we’ll have to wait and see.
