Renewed Or Cancelled?
Money Heist: Korea is the latest remake of the Spanish smash hit, with a brand new cast and the usual scope of 70+ minute episodes. After finishing all 12 episodes, you may be wondering if this has been renewed or cancelled. Here’s what we know:
What is Money Heist: Korea about?
An intriguing prologue whisks us forward to some time in 2025. North and South Korea have come to a political agreement and open up their borders to one another. The fighting is over and for now, Korea is one.
As part of this historic unification, those in Pyongyang and neighbouring North Korean villages are free to head down South to try and make a name for themselves. With high hopes and dreams for the future, it doesn’t take long for the crushing reality of capitalism to rear its ugly head.
Eking out a living in the midst of this happens to be Tokyo, who becomes disillusioned with her current life and ends up on the run. Wanted by police and with nowhere else to go, in a neon-lit alleyway one night she takes a gun and prepares to fire. Step forward The Professor.
For those unfamiliar with the story, the Professor recruits Tokyo alongside various other misfits, some hailing from North Korea and others from South Korea. Their target is the Unified Korea Mint, where they intend to break in, steal 4 trillion won and make it out in one piece. But with the police closing in, will they make it out before they’re caught?

Has Money Heist: Korea been renewed for season 2?
At the time of writing, Money Heist: Korea has not been renewed for a second season. Given the nature of the show’s content, that could well change if it does good numbers for Netflix.
Generally Netflix gauge numerous metrics before renewing a show, including how many people initially watch it and then looking at the drop-off rate. With some shows, cancellations or renewals happen quickly (ala. Squid Game, Bridgerton & Irregulars) Other times, it can take months before Netflix make a decision over a show’s future.
So far, Money Heist: Korea has had a pretty average reaction from audiences and critics alike, with most commenting on how similar this one is to the Spanish counterpart.
Given the way this show is set up, and less buzz than may be initially expected, we’re going out on a limb and predicting that this will not be renewed for a second season. The show does end conclusively and it seems that the series is going to struggle to hit the same numbers as the original, which could hurt its chances of a renewal.
We’ll be sure to update this section with accurate details over the coming weeks and months when we know more!
What we know about season 2 so far:
Barely anything is known about season 2 at this point, given Netflix have not green-lit a sequel. However, we could see our characters return for a follow-up, potentially adapting seasons 3 and 4 of the Spanish version, heading back for one more heist. The Professor does mention to Woo-Jin at the end that he has ideas for a “Revolution”, which could be a wink toward this, but again that’s still unknown at this time.
As mentioned above, we predict that this will not be renewed but we’ll have to wait and see what happens. We’ll be sure to update this page in the future when more information is known though!
